Yeah, IGN's review is up too. They gave it an 8.0. IGN and Gamespot are always around the same. I'm actually surprised TeamXbox rated it so high. Regardless, I've had this pre-ordered for a couple weeks ago and the demo sold me through and through.

I DLed it this past Saturday to see what all the commotion was about and strangely enough, I liked it. I DONT like GTA whatsoever so I really wasnt expecting to like this game. What I enjoyed about the game was how it played and the characters abilities increase. I'm most likely going to pick it up!

I am still not sold on Crackdown. From the demo it looks like its an environment more than a game. The Gamespot review seems to point to this as well.

Since a large prtion of the sales will be for the Halo 3 beta anyways, does the reviews really matter on this game?

I didn't like the Demo at all and don't plan to buy it. I do think the Gamespot review is about what I felt.

I am a little disappointed with these reviews. I love the demo, though. I am undecided about whether I will buy it.

I enjoyed the demo, but I'm not sure its a game I'd spend alot of time with. In a "sandbox" style game I have to really want to "play in the sandbox". I bought Saints Row and still haven't fired it up..I dont know if I really "care" about playing in that world or not.

The Crackdown demo I have played a couple of times, maybe 1 hour total...and while the game is fun, I noticed I wasn't even bothering to kill guys, spending more time on figuring out how to climb a building, or the fastest way to get from A to B, and that makes me stop and wonder a bit. Since I was basically avoiding the big thing in the game: taking out enemies.

The "shooting" portion was actually kinda dull. Just lock-on the enemy and hold the trigger down until the enemy died. It was more fun to run up to people and beat on them, but even that element is beyond simplistic. Although picking up a stunned enemy and tossing them off a building was fun, but half the time I'd kill the guy before I could pick him up and toss him. It just wasn't any fun to pick up a pistol and have to put an entire clip into some hoodie-wearing thug only to watch him drop, and then have to rinse/repeat the process for the half dozen other guys that show up eventually from cars. Its like there was no "fun" there..it wasn't fun to take the guys out. :P

Blowing them up with grenades was cool, but shooting? I was bored almost immediately.
So I dont know if that bodes well for spending time with this game in the long run. I enjoyed the driving model, but right now its like "neet demo, but dont know if I want to just go on killing endless 'boss bad guys' over and over". :P

PS: Anyone else but me think the game feels like a sandbox version of SYNDICATE??? :)
I had that weird kinda vibe.

Oooooo, good call! You know, I could see that. Of course, I adored Syndicate, so that's a plus for me. :D

I had more funning killing civilians and getting chased by the cops, rather than killing bad guys.

I have mixed feelings about this game. I really enjoyed the demo and levelling up the character, but I worry the game will get old fast. I've read that there's no story, just a hit list of people you have to take out. I guess the main attraction of the game will be exploring the game-world, hunting for orbs and trying to get some of the more creative achievements.

I guess it's worth the $60 though with the Halo3 beta. Isn't this a Microsoft Game Studios game though? I thought all first-party titles would be $50.

Did any of you guys stumble across one of those purple lit areas? Walk into one and you get some sort of quickie mission, like race a course for time, or something. So their might be some game value beyond exploration and combat. I think the demo lets you get REALLY overpowered, so you can just wander around stomping folks. But I hear the full game baddies are tougher and you are not as powerful, so there may be some tactics involved. Anyway, it seems fun, hopefully there are some plot elements beyond who to assassinate next.

This demo was soo bad, no wonder they are bribing people with Halo 3 beta. How this could get a 9/10 is unbelievable, it ruins the credibility of the reviewer.

agreed..the game sucks. I think the halo 3 bribe has pretty much blinded people's perception of this game.
It look's and plays like a last gen xbox game.

Have fun!

I bought GTA3 and got bored of it soon. The story wasn't that interesting. Played Saints Row demo and got bored of it. So I wasn't expecting much of Crackdown. Strangely enough, I've fired up the demo more than 6 times now, playing the full hour worth each time. It's refreshing to finally get to play a 'good guy' taking down the hoods, instead of always playing an anti-hero. :D For me, I'd give it a 9 just for being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Yes. Syndicate. A good thing, in my mind.

I love it. Having fun with it. it does indeed remind me of SYNDICATE. Good call on that one.

I agree that the demo is alot of fun. The hour seems to go by in no time. The only problem I have is I wonder if there is much more to the game than what is found in the demo. It could get old fast. Plus I still have so many games to finish and probably never will finish because I prefer playing online.

Does Crackdown have an online component? Coop could be alot of fun and would probably make it worth buying for me.

I like those green races where you have to jump from building to building. I think that will be a lot of fun in Co-op.

Just imagine being in co op in general and starting on one end of the city a race to the other side by any means! Throwing trucks at your friend to trip him up, etc.

I see this game as just a huge virtual playground.

How many cars can you throw on top of a building. How high up a building you can drive the SUV.

Just taking out wheels on fast moving virtual cars is a blast.

Surfing a car while your friend does massive jumps, etc.

I usually look at gamespot and 1up for reviews.

1up Review (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3157154)

They gave it a 9. I can understand why Gamespot gave it a lower review. They didn't like the visuals and said the game seemed easy. Gamespot should have been higher just based on the amount of fun people are having. I play games to have fun first and things like visuals, sound, features are secondary.

I think I am going to start out on the medium level of difficulty and then do the hardest setting after that. I am hoping some of my friends pick up the game to do the Co-Op portion too.

I pre-ordered it so I can get the game on launch day. After the Halo 3 beta invite was included the pre-orders went through the roof. I didn't want to try and get the game and then fail because they only got enough in to cover pre-orders.

I've been browsing GAF's thread on crackdown, and I got the impression that this game is one of the best. titles. ever. respecting GOW.

I haven't played the demo, but they make me want to just get it what the heck...
I don't think I have ever read such glowing comments.

There is online co op but you cant use it in the demo. you can do system link co op which is still really fun but if you or the other person playing gets 2 stars then you only have 30 minutes remaining(which is the same as single player)

For those that might be interested myself and a few other podcasters did an audio review of Crackdown as well. you can download it here (http://www.unclegamer.com/interview/the_crackdown_review/) .
