i bought some rechargable energizer batteries today (2500mAh, 1.2V NiMH) and i noticed on the battery pack cover, it says, "Use only alkaline battery, type AA (LR6)"

1) im assuming the batteries i bought are alkaline but whats this LR6 business. will my batteries be ok? i did charge and try em and they seemed to work fine, but i just wanted to confirm here.

2) after a full charge i put two of the batteries in and yet the battery icon for the 360 still showed my controller at 3 bars instead of 4. whats the problem here?

3) i noticed on the actual batteries themselves is the print "10-06" anyone know if this is the expiration date or something? i sure hope not because i just bought them today...

thanks for any help

Hopefully I am not misleading you, but I have used rechargeable batteries with mine since I bought it 9 or 10 months ago and it has worked perfectly.

I don't play it a ton, but the batteries seem to last a long time.

Yea don't worry about it. A lot of devices that use AA batteries will tell you to only use alkaline and not rechargeables. Probably because rechargeables operate at a lower voltage, but they work just fine.

Regarding #2, your rechargeables may only have 3/4 the capacity of a regular alkaline battery.

Remaining battery charge is typically determined by measuring the voltage level of the batteries. It's a very poor way to measure, since the voltage doesn't decline linearly with charge. Instead, the voltage remains steady for a large percentage of the total charge, but then quickly declines thereafter. This is why a battery may seem to stay at a reported "full" battery level for a long time, but then quickly decline.

Rechargeable AA batteries output a slightly lower voltage level compared to alkaline AA batteries, even when fully charged. Hence, seeing 3 out of 4 bars when a device attempts to measure the voltage level is completely normal.

I have always used AA NiMHs ever since I got my original Xbox (and got the Logitech wireless). No problems on the 360, except that even at fresh full charge the dashboard battery meter starts at 3/4 (not really a problem, just a minor annoyance).

Been cycling 6 AA recharables among 2 controllers for over a year, no problems.
