This has been bothering me for a really long time.

It seems like all the 360 mods being released are crap. Who cares about different colored controllers/ cases/ lights/ etc.?

How are people working on such worthless mods when we still can't up-convert DVD's over component?

Unless, its already out there in which case could someone please direct me to any info.

Not even MS can legally make this "mod". You can blame the studios for pushing the copyright laws that prevent us from upconverting over analog connections.

A little off subject, but if you are linked to a HTPC and using something like Transcode 360 to play movies through the Xbox, is that upconverted, or standard 480p through component?

They can "legally" make it, but it would be a violation of the DVD Forum agreement and they could have their license to play back DVDs revoked.

Firstly, I dont expect this mod from microsoft.

Secondly, how did they do it with the original xbox?

By designing a custom operating system for it.

I think if we ever get a mod chip we will probably be able to do it.
With the Samsung upconverting DVD players you arew able to put a code into the remote or something and turn on components output to more than 480p.

You can always mod it the VGA cables.... you don't even have to crack the case! :D
