Dave,

I found Directed Electronics at www.directed.com.

It appears that Directed is the parent company of Polk Audio. A friend of mine has one of Polk's iSonic HD/CD units and is very happy with it. His unit had a software glitch and he gives Polk's customer service high marks on solving the problem.

My concern about the new auto unit is whether it relies on FM modulation to get the HD signal into a car's OEM system. There are too many modulators on the streets that interfere with FM reception in the reserved band! Also, it appears that the Directed system includes a display unit that is not part of the OEM radio. Where do you put it?

My understanding is that the DICE HD adapter, due out this spring (???), will use the OEM display to indicate HD information, although it's hard to believe they could adapt the unit to every existing radio.

Directed Electronics has one of the best brands. they own polk audio, 99% of the sirius receivers including stilleto, s50 and starmate. they also own one of the best speakers..definitive technologies.
Plus tons of other products like navigation systems, viper car starter kits and radar systems

I know that Directed Electronics bought the Clifford car alarm company a few years ago. Clifford was a great company (they would send me free new keychain covers for my keychain alarm button), but I don't know anything about Directed.

Directed acquired Polk very recently. As such, I cannot vouch for their other product lines.
