Hello everyone.
I've recently perchused a Samsung SyncMaster 931B LCD Monitor.
I've noticed it has a DVI input, and so is my display atapter has.

I've never used that option.
I had an old LG 17' monitor which I used through the standart RGB input.

When I was setting up the new monitor I thought to connect the DVI cable
First to see what happens, since I've never used that option.
When I plugged the DVI cable the screen was blank and there was
A message on the screen which said "Plug RGB cable first"
So I plugged the RGB cable and only then I got a picture.

Now I work with the screen with both of the cables plugged in.
And I don't see any difference or something else special.

So my question is -
What is this DVI input ?
What is it used for ?
And why was I asked to plug the RGB cable first ?

Thanks for any helpers.
Michael.

DVI is a Digital Video Interface
RGB is an analog video interface

DVI should give you a very slight improvement in Picture Quality over RGB, but it will be extremely hard to notice most of the time.

I don't know your computer or monitor well enough to answer your question about why you had to have the RGB hooked up first. Perhaps it tells you in your manual?

Now I have both the RGB and DVI cables plugged in.
Should I unplug the RGB cable ?
Or leave them both plugged in ?
