The Departed on Blu-ray sold out quickly here in the Pikes Peak region. I have called 20 or so Bestbuys, Circuit Citys and Wal-Marts and all sold out early this morning. How are your regions doing?

Check your local Future Shop. We had our 30 HD-DVD's come in over the weekend, but our 22 BD copies didn't arrive until an hour after we opened today. Got mine, w00t!

I think I grabbed the last HD DVD off the shelf at Park/75 BB - just couldn't resist the price break on a combo. Ironically, I am waiting for my BD version to get here from Amazon.

Went to Best Buy in NYC (23rd/6th) this morning when they opened. Couldn't find "The Departed" in the Blu-ray section. I waved down a sales associate who pointed out the Blu-ray version was being displayed with the SD versions in the higher-profile "new releases" area. Picked up a copy and was on my merry way.

I checked their website this afternoon and they have already sold out.

I placed my order on amazon this morning (7am eastern) and it has just been shipped out, even with it saying it was not in stock. This is weird especially if people who had preorders i hear haven't even had theirs ship out. Oh well, Im happy I'll be getting mine tomorrow or thursday with amazon prime and with the extra 10% off for waiting till release date. :D

its funny, stores around here are sold out of the BD version since early this morning, but the hd-dvd version is just sitting there collecting dust. I saw one guy return an HD-DVD copy for the regular DVD version though, he said he bought it by mistake.

Another fanboy spouting BS! They just street today, yet you speak of them collecting dust! At my BB, there were only 2 HD-DVD's left after I grabbed one, and about 7 BD copies.

BTW Beatboy, I just called your local BB at N Academy Blvd At Chapel Hill
Colorado Springs, CO, and they have both versions in stock if you are looking for one. Phone # is 719-593-0414.

BB here in Albany, NY (Crossgates Mall) was sold out of both BD and HD-DVD versions today, and their big DVD display was looking pretty picked over as well. FYE only received the HD-DVD & had plenty of them. I got one of the last 2 BDs at Circuit City for $24.99 (sticker) even though it rang up as $29.99. It seemed like almost everyone was carrying around a copy of this movie, I bought it sight unseen, I hope it's good. :)

best buy is also stocking about 3x as many copies of the blu-ray version, so its even more impressive when blu-ray is sold out.

so stores are stocking 24 blu-ray copies to 8 hd-dvd copies. when these hd-dvd fanboys see 2 hd-dvd copies and 6 blu-ray copies left, the sales ratio is acually 18-6 in blu-rays favor. game over hd-dvd.

I bought my HD-DVD online through Best Buy and when I picked up my copy, as soon as they opened, they had both stacks sitting behind the counter still and it looked as though they got more copies of the Blu-Ray. Not a bunch more but the stack was taller by about five Blu-Rays. I would say about 15 HD-DVD's and about 20 Blu-Rays. They might have had more in the back though. None on the shelf yet.

Canada gets the shaft again, no blu-ray discs anywhere. Yet futureshop/bestbuy has 15-20 discs of the hd-dvd version. Why must I wait a month to get a "new" release? I guess I'm gonna start shopping online.

~JoshWTF...Quit the BS Josh...Go to BB put in the zip code for YOUR area 80906 and almost every BB store has the Departed for in store pick up. What pisses me off about your complete BS lies is if I wanted this flick and I lived in your area and I read your BS post that all BB are out of stock in my area...I would of miss out on buying this title today. Stop this BS to help your cause for BD. Your just hurting your fellow AVS members.

As of right now in the Pikes Peaks area they are plentiful...go get your copy of The Departed in BD before they are gone. ;)

Just because the store says they have none in stock online, isn't entirely correct. Call them to verify. I saw the same thing for Lucky # Slevin at BB.com and went to the store and they had 2 copies left. Same went for Resident Evil 2 on BD. Don't let the websites get you down.

As I mentioned earlier, keep checking your Future Shop. On our staff website it said there was a BD manufacturing delay for Departed and to expect it later in the week. Our store, however, did receive our copies later on this morning. If they don't have 'em today, very likely tomorrow.

And they had more BD's than HD-DUD's! They also stated that they are selling tons more stand alone players than HD-DUD.

Go ahead and call them you HD-DUD fanboy but at least you'll have a GREAT upscaling player for playing outdated DVDs when BD's win. But one problem, all the new movies will be BD. What a shame!
