For the past few weeks my SA8300HD has the annoying habit of thinking it's HD is full, so it won't record any programs & won't let me schedule new recordings. I have to power cycle the box to get it back, but then within a day or less it gets back in the HD full state. I also recently tried formatting the HD but it's still happening.

Digging through the diags I noticed a couple error messages that look interesting:

Warning 070211.16.01 [SARA MAIN] @ cmni.cpp:341 [exception -0x4004
getactualtotalfreediscspacewrap]

and

Warning 070211.16.01 [SARA MAIN] @ crecordtv.cpp:344 [exception -0x4004
getatadeviceid]

Has anyone seen this? Any magic tricks to stop this?

Thanks,
Jay

I have seen that too, where the 8300 disk will think it is full. But only after I have been recording and watching and deleting shows for a few weeks straight. A reboot always fixes it, until it happens again in a few weeks.

If it happens for you within a day, there is probably something wrong with the drive. Take it back to the cable co and get it replaced with a new one. Fortuntely, if you reformatted recently, you won't be turning it in today with lots of shows you recorded and haven't had a chance to watch yet. That happened to me once.

Write down everything you have set up to record, because you will have to reprogram all of them when you get the new box.

Had the DVR replaced by WOW. I asked the guy if he'd seen this before and he said a few times. Kat, if your DVR is doing this every once in a while I'd say you better catch up on your recorded shows. I'd be willing to bet you're on your way to the same problem and solution.
