I am in desperate need of help. I just purchased a Sony Pearl a few hours ago. For the last one hour or so ive been trying to turn it on after plugging it in. The only thing i get is a red flash 6 times that in the manual tells you to disconnect the AC Power Cord. Then confirm the ON/STANDBY lamp is turned off. How can you turn the lamp off if the power cord is disconnected? It doesnt make sense! Please Help.

Sounds like a malfunction. It must still be covered by warranty, så off to the dealer with it...

It is telling you to unplug the AC power cord and CONFIRM the on/standby lamp is OFF. This procedure is making sure all power is dissipated from the projector since your are doing a "power on reset" for all of the electronics.
I would dissconnect AC power for 2 minutes, go get a glass of water in the meantime. Then reconnect AC power, wait 5 minutes. Then press power on just ONCE on the remote and wait another 5 minutes for the PJ to actually start up.
This may sound tedious but PJ's take some time to start up. Some have a failsafe that will not allow multiple power on/off requests and will lock out the power on feature. THis would require a power on reset to clear.

Thanks Guys,
I disconnected the chord for several minutes, plugged in, a solid red light appears. I let it stand for another 10 minutes and press power button on remote once, red turns green just for a second and then turn back to 6 red flashes.
Very frustrated at this point.

Greetings,
I would recommend that you check that lamp to ensure that it is seated properly. I sounds like the lamp may have have come loose during shipment. Open the lamp cover and remove and reseat the lamp. Then reconnect power and try again.

Make sure your front filter hatch and rear lamp hatch are closed and latched.

I agree...check the lamp and filters. It may have jostled in shipping or when you brought it home.
