Has anyone watched First Blood with the 'Out of the Blu' Triva pop-up track enabled?? It's hilarious. During the movie, when someone is attacked by Rambo in various ways or by the booby traps he sets, it shows an anatomical display of where the wound is and gives you a detailed description. For instance, when someone is hit by a spring loaded wooden spiked branch it says "Several handmade wooden shivs, possibly Douglas Fir, penetrate the rectus femoris'. It might just be that my friends and I have a sick sense of humor, but we were roaring with laughter :) To be fair some of the trivia is really interesting, like the fact that Stallone broke several ribs and punctured his spleen while leaping from the cliff down the trees. Kind of makes you wonder why they didn't use a stuntman for that shot. Interesting...

Stalone and Arnie did pretty much all their stunts back then. Just look at Cliffhanger, Stallone did all his Climbing work.. BTW where is Cliffhanger, that was one of the first DVD release by Columbia, HD and PCM track would make that one a killer! imho...

Yeah, Cliffhanger would rock on Blu-Ray ,no pun intended!

Something I noticed with First Blood: There seems to been an extreme amount of digital noise reduction applied. In fact, its so bad in some scenes, when an object moves, there's a trail left behid it. Look at 1:07:58. When Trautman moves his head, his forehead stays in the same place for about a second while the rest of his face moves, then his forehead catches up with him. Very bad DNR! It's too bad , becuase for the most part, the picture looks great.

This has been discussed in the HDDVD forum comparing the HDDVD Rambo to the Blu-Ray. Extreme noise reduction was used on the BD to the point that it wiped out any natural grain to the film and produced an overall softening of the PQ.

I didn't notice that on my Panny feeding my SXRD. What player/display are you using? I'll check this when I get home.

I'm using a Panasonic 50" Plasma, being fed by a PS3. I don't think it's equipment related becuase none of my other 50 or so Blu-Ray discs, or (or HD-DVDs for that matter) exhibit such heavy DNR.

Although it did look a little softer than the tier 0 and some of the tier 1 titles, overall I was very happy with the image on my Sony CRT. It's weird that you mention the bluring/ghost - I did not notice any, but I DID notice it on Underworld: Evolution and it annoyed the hell out of me.

I called my Sony Rep over this question. He mentioned that Sony is looking to put this one out possibly as early as this summer.
