Ken H 02-13-07, 09:34 PM Having separate HD cameras recording an event, and editing them together into a program is completely different than doing it live. McDonoughDawg 02-13-07, 10:01 PM Wake me when it's over. fredfa 02-13-07, 10:15 PM Doesn't NFL Network often use NFL Films material in HD? Shooting film doesn't require any extra equipment as CBS would have needed to do the game live. Which, considering the Pro Bowl was the network's second lowest-rated program of the week, might have been considered a waste. Heck, its audience was 30% lower than a Saturday repeat of Criminal Minds! mikemikeb 02-13-07, 10:26 PM So maybe the HD cams weren't hooked up to the broadcast truck, or maybe there weren't enough HD cams for the director to feel comfortable broadcasting in HD? 5w30 02-13-07, 10:31 PM So maybe the HD cams weren't hooked up to the broadcast truck, or maybe there weren't enough HD cams for the director to feel comfortable broadcasting in HD? There wasn't an HD truck in Hawaii, period. Not worth the expense of shipping. FYI: NFL Films uses their own cameras. And, in this day of videotape or discs, they still use Kodak's best film. ABCTV99 02-14-07, 10:17 AM NFL Films uses a variety of different methods to capture games. But we're basically talking about an EFP crew with 4 or 5 handheld cameras (film or otherwise)...this equipment complement you could easily put on a domestic airplane as carry-on luggage. It's a whole different story to ship a 53 foot HD production truck from California to Hawaii. To my knowledge I've only seen this done for remotes in Puerto Rico, Cancun (MTV Spring Break), the Bahamas and Catalina Island, and none of these were HD facilities. NFL Films records every single NFL game on video AND film. These cameras are completely seperate from the broadcast cameras. |
