I've searched all over the internet and haven't seen anyone bitching (or even talking) about Heat not being released yet. So, I'm starting the official bitching thread. I thought all you PCM freaks would be having sleepless nights thinking about the bank robbery scene. Am I the only one with this movie on my top 5 list?

I heard Warner was trying to get a new print or something like that.

Heat is the movie i want most in HD.
I hope it comes out soon.

Yep, there's that inside shot in the Town Car when they're trying to drive away where the camera is aligned from DeNiro's POV with the machine gun pointing out toward the windshield. The bass that comes out when he pulls the trigger is insane, especially on the laserdisc version. Can't wait.

Heat is actually one of the few three hour movies I can actually sit through.

Absolutely, this is one movie where I wouldn't want them to cut anything.

Hope so - as the SE DVD was a major disappointment in this regard.

Definitely at top of my list but the very top is Collateral and then Last of the Mohicans. Not as action packed but love Michael Mann's style and Collateral with being shot on HD cameras and such cool night scenes of LA can't wait to see it on Blu-ray. And Last of the Mohicans has the collest running scene(s) I have ever seen although heard good things about a particular scene in Casino Royale that I haven't seen yet..

Even on DVD, I thought that scene had the most realistic surround sound I've heard for any movie.......the gunfire echoing off the buildings is insane!

I really don't think Warner can get a better print. Michael Mann likes that gritty/grainy look. Look at Collateral or Miami Vice. I myself like the look of his films and I can't wait for a BD release with PCM:)

Couldn't be any worse than the laserdisc which had the 2.35:1 image almost 1/3 of the way up the screen instead of the middle :). Sound was still freakin' amazing though.

Agreed 100%. This is Pacino's best effort. Even better than Scent of a Woman.

Good effort but not better than The Godfather 1 and 2, Scarface, or Dog Day Afternoon, IMHO of course.

This title was rumored to be in development some time ago. I remember because that's the day I sold my DVD.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's coming. And we can't really expect to have everything we want right now. We're getting tons of great titles in HD. I for one am very satisfied.

Warner intends to release Heat on both High-Def formats (should they still be around) next year (2008).

I think it is an Ashley Judd thing...if you notice...every movie she is in...none are available on a HD format. Double J in Hi-def....bring it on!

Heat is a great movie but there is one scene that always bothered me...near the beginning when Robert Deniro met his new lady friend and they are back at the apartment having drinks and talking...he is standing on an outside blcony and they have the CG background of LA...that looked horrible...a King Kong horrible looking effect if you ask me. I hope they fix that...they fixed the Rancor monster!

While no doubt it looked like a composite shot, I don't think the background was CG, just looked like a live action plate to me.
