This is a blind buy for me based on good reviews. I liked 'The Illusionist', but I hear this is even better.

This has been a friggin great month for releases & it just keeps getting better. One of the best films of 06 gets one of the best transfers of 07. I loved this film and as Peter says it does make you want to watch it again and I have been waiting for this version to do just that. :)

This is probably a great reference title for Blu-ray ...it doesn't hurt either to have an Oscar nomination for cinematography.

Yes it was. He also says recent BVHE BDs have been outstanding, which doesn't correspond to my experience.

This is the first movie I'll be watching when I unwrap my PS3 on my b-day... too bad it's 2 months away. I guess I can stare at the box. :)

Oh, you know I do. However, I think I'd rather wait those 2 months than sleep on the couch those two months. :)

Yes...Batman is most definitely soft....and the most overrated movie (picture quality wise) on all of HD.

Lets hope its not that soft looking :)

I've got it preordered from Amazon. I never saw it, but I loved Memento and Batman Begins, so Chris Nolan warrants a blind buy. Plus Buena Vista's been kicking some ass lately, so I have no doubt it'll look and sound incredible.

Yeah, I guess we all have to have priorities. Having said that...BREAK IT OPEN! :D

The Prestige has some serious Audio Format options.

* English PCM 5.1 Surround (48kHz/24-Bit)
* English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
* French Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
* Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround

When I saw The Prestige in the theater, the audio went out at the end when all is revealed. I had to go home and Google "Prestige spoiler" to find out how it ended. I can't wait to actually hear the ending. Yet another reason I prefer watching movies at home.

The guy has a history of being blown away by practically everything he sees. I'm sure it's a nice disc, but he gets carried away.

Let's hope. Unfortunately the trailer on other BD discs doesn't look overwhelming in terms of PQ.

ROTFLMAO, you got that right Fett. We have to be critical (so studios don't slack on the transfers) with releases but at the same time give credit where credit is due....Batman was highly over-rated on the HD-DVD front. At any rate, the Prestige is one of the tightest movies I have ever seen, and I will definitely be picking this up since I just got a PS3 the other day.

Christopher Nolan is now one of my favorite director's of all time, even with his small catalog. This guy makes movies the way I always wished someone would: movies that make you think but not to the point of utter frustration and confusion where you say, "screw this!" instead, I want to watch them over and over again to digest everything. I never get sick of Memento.

Giving the wrong signal to the studios is absolutely the reason why it bothers me so much that the softness of BB is so widely overlooked. If they think they can get away with that they will just keep on doing it.

When does the Prestige come out on HD-DVD? Or did you order the import version?

I would to see someone compare the Blu-ray version here to that of the European HD DVD version of The Prestige. It will interesting to see if there is a difference in quality since the BD version is BD-50/AVC MPEG-4/PCM. Warner is distributing The Prestige in Europe.

Have a link?Warner UK HD Schedule Update (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=64082) (HD DVD and Blu-ray Listed)

Dates are listed as "rumoured" on this page but there is a preorder up at www.play.com listing 5/14 as well. It hasn't shown up on www.amazon.co.uk yet (I assume that's the easiest from which to order).
