Woo Hoo - First post here! Hello everyone!

I'm having an issue with a 3 year old Samsung TXM3096WHF and my dad said AVS would be the place to get fast answers before I crack the case on this unit.

Over the past few weeks, intermittently, on power up, from the remote, the TV hasn't come on and it locks... A complete power down and reset of the TV has fixed the issue in the past.

What do I mean by lock? Ok... Press the power button on the remote - the TV powers on, the degaussing coil charges - The TV powers down (Doesn't get to a CRT power up) - The TV is then totally unresponsive from both the remote and the front controls - every time this happens, the power light on the front stays on - unplug the TV for 30 seconds - the relays open - plug the TV back in and it's ok... Until last night…

Last evening I turned on the TV - same symptoms as above - power up - degauss - power down, except this time there were a couple of added features - the TV made a high pitched squeal (sounded like it was from the high voltage supply) and the front LED died. Several attempts to recycle power made no change.

I'm guessing the TV either lost the HV supply, main power supply, or a fuse. I had planned on taking a look but I figured I would first ask if anyone has seen this issue?

Ohhh BTW the TV is on a power conditioner and we have seen no power spikes lately.

Thanks for the help!

During your troubleshooting, have you tried plugging it into the wall directly, and not into the power conditioner? CRTs suck a lot of current when they turn on and degauss - maybe your power conditioner is giving too much resistance.

G-Bull, Thanks for the idea... No I hadn't tried that.

Just tried plugging it in direct - No fix

Update - There's a 5A GGS fuse on the mainboard - Pulled it and did continuity check - Fuse good.

I have the same problem. The LED on the front is not working and when the tv is plugged in I can hear a clicking noise.
I would like to get this unit fixed - can you tell me more about the part you replaced?
Did you replace the part?
Does the repair require soldering?
Where did you get the part? Is it a common part?

Any help would be appreciated - I would like for the 1080P units to drop in price a bit more before I have to buy a new unit.

Thanks for your help.

I have a Samsung HD crt TXN3071WHF. This seems like a complete shot in the dark as nobody has responded to the previous post and this thread is more than a year old. Mine won't power up either. I just hear relays clicking and the little power up music plays quicker than normal. Tried unplugging and plugging it back up. Tried using the remote to power it up. No dice. I'm pretty good with electronics if someone can point out what part might be broken. Otherwise I will have to simply have to dump this set onto the curb, switch over to the dark side, and replace it with probably an LCD, or maybe a plasma. I have been happy with this set even with the ridiculous geometry issues and weight (230lbs!!). But now at these times I can replace it for a similar sized thin screen for the same price I paid for it ($1k+). But I am willing to through the hassle of opening it up and desoldering a bad IC if I can be pointed to it. Thanks in advance if anybody ever reads this.
