Just got my Reservoir Dogs BluRay disk in the mail, and basically ruined the case trying to get the mother$%*& security stickers off of the thing. The plastic that holds the paper title sheet is not very thick, and it didn't take much rubbing at all to destroy it. I was really careful and everything. Then there were TWO electronic security devices inside that I guess I should have left in there, because removing them left glue residue all over the place. This crap makes baby jesus cry.

What is with this? Are teenagers really opening boxes in stores and just walking out with the disks in their pockets? I know the important thing is the movie inside but this still makes me want to punch kittens.

Edit: Anyone know where I can get replacement cases?

There's a discussion about methods to remove the stickers, as well as sources for replacement cases here:

Hope that helps!

Well, if you don't like stickers, then only buy Fox BDs, they're nice and sticker free, not even a label one on top.

Happened w/ R-Dogs and A. Psycho for me. Seems like a Lions Gate problem

One sticker is bad enough but most have three. I was sick and tired of this nine years ago when I bought my first dvd.

The stickers on American Psycho were really bad, the worst I've experienced.

I have bought one video game and one sd-DVD that when I got them home realized the packaging had been tampered with and the software removed.

Target did let me return them for replacements, but it does happen and it does make you feel funny trying to return an item that is missing.

I had the same problem with the reservoir dogs trying to get the tags off, but people do steal the movies, and with prices like BD have now, there is little chance the stealing will stop.

I just bought Crank from walmart yesterday, and when i brought it home and opened it up, there was no disk in the box. I should have figured that there was something up when there was a clean slit down the side where you open the box. Also I should have realized the disk was jacked when there was only 2 security sticker strips, and not 3. I as well felt weird to return an open box. The guy at the return desk was helpful and said, grab another one off the shelf and make sure it wasn't broken into. I think either their employees are retards, or they just don't give a crap about stuff, because the box had a Best Buy sticker on it. So someone bought it at bestbuy and knew walmart wouldn't check the box to make sure it was sealed.

I think you may be on to something, at least with the Lionsgate discs. I got my first two LG titles today (also AP and RD), and sure enough, there was gunk left behind after removing the stickers. I've never had this problem with any other titles. There could be something about their stickers in particular.

I wish they would just have a sticker on top and maybe on the side. On the bottom there's a chance of taking some of the cover art with the sticker. There was also a potential problem with the top sticker on DVDs, but these new cases don't have the art going all the way to the top).

Your conclusion is right, Lion Gate are the worst so far and for all formats (DVD, HD DVD, Blu Ray).

The sad part is all the stickers and security tags in the world don't in any way stop the shoplifters. They just take a razor blade down the spine and slip the disc out that way, leaving all that junk behind...

Buy a 100-pack of slimline cases and print a label from the internet = BAM a full DVD/etc for $1.50.

and yet a $1500 lens or camera body from Canon comes unsealed (and in these cases used and tested items often get passed off as fresh, unlike with DVD's where they don't even take returns)....

anyway, doesn't quite bother me as much as it does you, but it is annoying and silly in my opion too.

Yeah, it's a Lion's Gate issue. I had to use Goo Gone for 5 minutes to clean off Reservoir Dogs.

I bought 4 Sony Blu-ray discs last weekend at Fry's during their Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion and didn't have any trouble with the stickers.

WD-40 will easily remove sticker residue off cases (and most anything else).
