I think it is if you can get an extended warranty to go with it.

If it's in great condition, and there aren't any visible PQ issues, I'd go for it. THat is a pretty good price.

I would say the set is worth 600-700 dollars. But then again a items value is whatever folks will pay for it.

I'll be shocked if it sells at that price. I got mine new last year for $1200.

My experience with ebay is that there alot of people who just get caught up in the bidding.
Have seen people pay 90 percent of retail for a used product. You can buy that set on the net for 1200 dollars. Yes I googled that model and found merchants who still sell it. That would be brand new with the warranty.

Where? I googled quite a bit before buying my xbr970 and couldn't find a new xbr960 for sale anywhere.

You have to keep looking. You can find them and also the xs955 which is the same thing without I/E input and VGA. Before you decide check out the Sony KDL 40v2500. I have seen this LCD flat screen and the PQ is stunning. It would be the only set I would consider when comparing to my two CRT sets.

Well, there is no more deciding for me to do because I already bought the XBR970 a few months ago. I still plan on getting another HDTV though. I want to get a 1080p flat-panel in the range of 40" - 50". But I'm waiting for contrast ratios to get in the range of 100,000:1 - 1,000,000:1 first. So it will be a quite a while before I do that.

If you get a chance go down to BB and look at the set I told you about. It is 1080p and
looks sweet. I plan on buying when we move into my new house and by then the prices will have dropped even more.

your talking dynamic or native? Cause I dont think an LCD will be able to hit that as its native for a while. How do these companies measure the contrast ratio anyways?

I call bs. I look specifically for brand new xbr960s dam near every day. Those online merchants are full of crap. They havent updated their websites. Brand new xbr960s are practically extinct.

Wow I checked and they are gone. I did find a 36xs955 which is a 36" version of the 34xs95.
I have one and I love the set. Since alot of my viewing is SD(wife and kids) it is a great solution. Go to [url]www.digitalkings.com and it is available for 1100 hundred dollars.

I think those are dynamic ratios, but with LED backlighting coming out this summer that can dim certain areas of the screen that require it, those ratios can't be far off.

I don't see these for under $1000, even used.
