Hello everyone.

I have 2 xbox 360's, one of which is hooked up to a Sanyo 23" LCD @ 720p. The other is used part time on my pc monitor which is an HPW19. Each of these sets look great in HD, however they lack contrast and bright colors. The Sanyo is 800-1 CR while the HP is 500-1 each with an 8ms response rate... I know it's horrible.

Anyways I'm missing the vibrance of a CRT, IMO they give the best overall PQ. I recently seen this Sansui on sale at Shopko for 350.00. It looked like it had a descent picture and the Geometry was pretty good considering the price. My delima is that I cant find any concrete specs on it. It says it's an HDTV, but what is the native res? I cant findout anywhere. I dont want to buy this if it's SD for cheaper I could have the 26" Toshiba in SD.

Any help and info would be nice, I know you guys here know your stuff.

Thanks.

I'd really stay away from generic name CRT HDTV's. If you want, Insignia's 30" CRT HD is
a good product to look at if you have that price line, you just need to save more. No HDMI
but no worry, 1080i can pass through components.

The Insignia is made by Orion, just like the Sansui and the low-end Toshibas.

Visit the Toshiba HD CRT thread to get an idea of how that Sansui performs. It's the brother of the Toshiba 26HF84/26HF85.

I use to have the HD 30" theatrewide from Toshiba. It looked great as long as I didnt send a 1080i signal to it, if I did it would flicker like crazy, but 720p looked good. I couldnt except that it couldnt do native so I took it back.

So are you saying that I shouldnt get a Toshiba/ Orion/ Insignia/ Sansui?

I really only have about $400.00 to spend on an HD CRT and I would really like to keep it around 26" size. If you know of a couple good ones please list them for me so I can browse them thanks.

I don't think you can spend $400 on a HDTV unless if it's one of those crappy ones
or used old ones.

Does anyone here have any personal experience with this Sansui? I found out that it does go up to 1080i, well it accepts 480i/480p/720p/1080i.

It will be this TV or a phillips 30" 8420 for very cheap on the consumer web site.

both are under $400.00.

I found 1 user review on Amazon and it was a 4 out of 5 with a very positive picture review. I just dont want to dismiss it because it's cheap, obviously I'm not shooting for excellent quality or I would get the sony crt.

If the Sansui has as good a picture as the Toshibas, then it will look better than the Philips. But neither TV is very high quality.

Based purely on PQ, I chose an Orion-Toshiba over the 30PW Philips. Both choices are known to be lemons, though.

I'm gonna go ahead and get the Sansui and an extended warranty for safety backup. In total with warranty it will be less than $400.00 not bad.
