I just noticed MyTV is showing an HD movie every Saturday night, this Saturday it's THE SHAPE OF THINGS, starring Rachel Weisz.

Are these confirmed to be in HD? And will we start seeing known movies (more like the movies ABC shows) on MYTV every Saturday night?

MyNetworkTV?
Are you watching an ex-UPN or ex-WB station from the US?

They (currently) show recaps of their telenovelas on Saturday night. This might be your local station getting HD capability to display these movies.

Its showing "The Shape of Things" in HD in the DirecTV guide for my local OTA MNTV channel. Looks like the weekly recap is going bye-bye in favor of something we might actually watch.

Two Thumbs Up! and Cheers! for this one.

This is probably the beginning of the transition to a normal network that was previously announced.

Yeah, the network started showing movies instead of telenovela recaps a couple of weeks back, but so far I've not recognized any titles. It's a moot point for me because, my local affiliate can barely do SD, and they don't even try HD, so I never watch the station, but there is only a few weeks left in the nets "all telenovelas all the time" format. Starting on March 8th I believe, they will begin airing movies on Thursday and Friday nights, a new pro mixed martial arts league fighting show on Mondays (repeating on Saturdays) and two hour telenovelas on Tuesday and Wednesday. I am curious whether the fighting stuff will be in HD in order to keep the networks record of all HD programming intact. Even if my local channel did HD, I still don't see anything really worth watching on the network, but I am paying attention, just because I've been curious as to how long they would be able to keep up their original format, which ended up not even being a full season.

I read somewhere that the MMA will be in HD, forget where I read it though.

From the Phoenix, AZ thread:
Hmmmm.

I rarely resort to quoting myself, but it appears my enthusiasm was just a bit premature. Apparently MyTV will be using the same SD 4:3 telecine copies as they rack up over at FX. The quality will be better through the HD chain, but still not real HD, as I had hoped. Now I'm wondering how important the delay servers for KUTP really were. The novellas sucked, but at least their PQ rivaled anything else on TV. Now MyTV will just be one more glorified cable-station SD-quality outlet.

I don't really understand this. FOX being a major movie company must own their own HD telecine by now. How much could it cost them to crank it up and burn off some copies of movies they also own, for MyTV? Again, which they also own. I guess FOX does not share my view that HD viewers have a hunger for HD movies, and that MyTV could have got their foot in the door and filled that niche in network prime.

I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, since the same company distributes their new morning show (Mike and Juliet in the Morning) in HD, yet shoots it with SD cameras  .

If MYTV was smart, they would make their priority 'good' HD movies, show these a few nights, and they will get themselves some viewers. Do what ABC does on some Saturday nights, but do it every thursday, friday and saturday night for the entire year.

I agree. Fox planned on their "Fox-HD" channel, might as well warm it up on MNTV.

WWOR (NY-MNTV ) is announcing this program as being in HD.

the only reason I watch MyNetworkTV is for ACC basketball. That station is not as good as UPN or WB, keep in mind that neither was that good to begin with.

I guess you missed Buffy, Angel, Voyager, Felicity, Veronica Mars, Everybody Hates Chris, Dawson's Creek, Smallville, Supernatural...

Plus, that's just My20 (WDCA-TV-DT Washington, DC), not even the real network. You know it's a problem when local programming is more compelling than network...

Anyway, MyNet O&O WDCA shows HD. Now that it's actually on, can someone confirm this?

The Saturday MyNetwork movie is NOT in HD here on WDCA-DT 20 in Washington, D.C. I expect that it is not being broadcast in HD by the network.

On WWOR-DT the movie is coming from the HD feed but it's 4:3.

ya you can see the MYTV logo is HD over top of the 4:3 movie. So they sent the local affiliates an HD picture with a 4:3 Upconverted movie.

uhhh....actually none of the above. I used to watch Smallville the first season or so, then it got really chessey and corny, plus the story got really boring.

The movie on MyNetwork TV was not in HD and that forced me to watch TNT, which turned out to be not so bad, Arenas didn't win though, dang it.
