View Full Version : Busch Series Qualifying on ESPN2HD!!!! Ryan21 02-16-07, 12:47 PM Busch Series Qualifying will air in HD at 3pm ET on ESPN2HD bagleyb 02-16-07, 02:17 PM Picture looked pretty good today.....I'm salivating over ESPN coverage at the end of the year though.....HD IN CAR CAMERAS! I'm watching practice on Speed right now, and DW just said they're installing HD cameras in the car's for Sunday's Daytona 500! dssturbo1 02-16-07, 02:18 PM DW is not always right. jefbal99 02-16-07, 02:39 PM DW is not always right. ESPNHD/ESPN2HD will have in car HD for all Busch and Cup races this season. It wouldn't surprise if Fox and TNT bend to the pressure to have them as well. KKyuubi 02-16-07, 03:08 PM Nice graphics...way to reuse the (always nice) MNF graphics, also used on NBA. It's also on TSN HD if anyone wonders AAF 02-16-07, 03:09 PM I'm watching practice on Speed right now, and DW just said they're installing HD cameras in the car's for Sunday's Daytona 500! I heard that too, very cool! Competition is a good thing! AAF 02-16-07, 03:19 PM OKay that's too cool. HD in car in the Busch series. Red headed step child no more! jefbal99 02-16-07, 03:23 PM OKay that's too cool. HD in car in the Busch series. Red headed step child no more! It will be in the Cup races that'll be shown on ESPN and ABC. In another thread, DW said that FOX would have HD in car cams for the 500 on Sunday, but that is only speculation. It was very cool to see that shot of Ruetimann's qualifying run in HD from a passengers perspective Ken H 02-16-07, 03:24 PM Comments merged. AAF 02-16-07, 03:44 PM Comments merged. Ken, These weren't really the same threads. One was about Busch series on ESPN 2 and the other was about the Daytona 500 (and Speed TV coverage on the Fox network). But whatever works! owine 02-16-07, 04:05 PM ESPN is going all out when it comes to NASCAR and the Busch Series. Everything is HD which is a welcomed change. It seems these graphics are the new professional standard for ESPN. They still have the older, non-3D graphics for all of their college broadcasts. Will be interesting to see if they adapt them to baseball for this season. ESPN is doing a very nice job so far, in my opinion. Marcus Carr 02-16-07, 05:45 PM At 3:18 pm, during David Reutimann's run, the announcers mentioned (enthusiastically) that it was the first time ever for an on-board HD camera view, and the first time for an on-board view during live qualifying. icemannyr 02-16-07, 05:55 PM The ESPN2 races are a production of NASCAR right? The FOX NASCAR coverage last weekend was all HD also. jefbal99 02-16-07, 06:22 PM The ESPN2 races are a production of NASCAR right? The FOX NASCAR coverage last weekend was all HD also. Fox's in car camera's were not HD last week homcom 02-16-07, 08:25 PM The ESPN2 races are a production of NASCAR right? The FOX NASCAR coverage last weekend was all HD also. I do believe that both FOX and ESPN/ABC are now now their own productions for all races, including equipment. Unlike previous years when NASCAR supplied most of the production equipment. Southern2356 02-16-07, 08:33 PM In previous years nep Super Shooters out of PGH provided the mobile units for FOX's and NBC's coverage for NASCAR. This year Game Creek is providing FOX's coverage using their new HD truck that did football as well. NEP is providing ESPN's mobile units for the Busch Races and then will jump over to the NASCAR events come later this year when ESPN takes over. homcom 02-16-07, 08:50 PM In previous years nep Super Shooters out of PGH provided the mobile units for FOX's and NBC's coverage for NASCAR. Just wondering here, do you know whose MUs Turner will use for their 6 races this year. Will it be their own or will they subcontract them out. This is the first time since 1999 that Turner is not just piggybacking with NBC. Southern2356 02-16-07, 08:54 PM NEP will provide the Turner with the mobile units as well. Check123 02-16-07, 10:03 PM I understand all of the cameras come to a central truck managed by NASCAR Images. When FOX and ESPN request use of a camera it is fed to them by Images. All of the RF cameras are provided by Broadcast Sports Technology. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the in-cars are HD... t123 Southern2356 02-16-07, 10:20 PM I understand all of the cameras come to a central truck managed by NASCAR Images. The compound though is very full of HD trucks though. homcom 02-16-07, 10:49 PM I understand all of the cameras come to a central truck managed by NASCAR Images. In all the coverage I have seen I have not any use of the cablecam on ESPN, just wondering if that is exclusive to FOX productions. That new red look is the new professional sports insert graphic look for all ESPN/ABC professional sports telecasts. The college package is for now the old Sunday Night Football package. The studio package is constantly being upgraded as the studio operation shifts from Deko HD to VIZRT. All ESPN (non studio) remotes are generally VIZRT. URFloorMatt 02-16-07, 11:17 PM Fox's in car camera's were not HD last week True, but last weekend wasn't the Daytona 500 either. SnakeEyes 02-16-07, 11:27 PM I hope ESPN recognizes the risk they take from putting these expensive new HD cams in all the cars at a super speedway. It's going to be one costly Big One. homcom 02-17-07, 12:02 AM I hope ESPN recognizes the risk they take from putting these expensive new HD cams in all the cars at a super speedway. It's going to be one costly Big One. I'm sure they considered that. jefbal99 02-17-07, 12:18 AM I'm sure they considered that. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the in-cars are HD... t123 All of the cameras on the track come back to the TV compound on two strands of fiber each. The fiber comes to a central fiber distribution point in the TV compound where it continues on to cameras CCU on the FOX (Game Creek MUs) production trailers. The HD camera video is then used in the Fox trailer for Fox and SPEED shows, and also redistributed back through the "Shared Resources Truck" to the ESPN (NEP MU) trucks. During the time that FOX is the Nextel Cup broadcaster, all of the cameras are handled this way. 8 of the 12 in-car cameras will be in HD for the Nextel Cup tomorrow.
