...and has a remote control. Any other features like an LCD display on the front is just icing on the cake, though.

I've had a Pelican System Selector Pro for a while now, a couple of years, at least. It's all fine and dandy. Never really had a problem with it per say, but the complete lack of a remote has started to drive me insane now, and I figure I need a new one.

There's that System Selector Pro 2.0 one that I've read about. It looks like it has all the features I'd like, but that only has 6 inputs, and I need 8, like the current one I've got.

Do any of you kind folks have any suggestions?

Check out the JVC JX-S777 It's really expensive though.

What kind of inputs are you looking for? Component? HDMI? How many? Does it need audio switching capabilities as well?

Have fun, lots of reading.

Beware that all the cheap solutions (Joytech 240c, Psyclone, etc) may show issues pumping HD though them. You'll find out more in the above thread.

Radio Shack makes a $30 component switcher that handles component, standard video, stereo audio and coaxial digital audio. It also has 2 outputs which can be very handy for sending things to other parts of the house. The unit can be programmed to accept any remote code to discreetly switch between inputs. You press a button and use the remote button you want to switch to video 3 and it remembers it. So you can basically use your television remote, or whatever. The only problem I have with this unit is the crappy remote recognization. It has major problems accepting the remote signals through a pass-through, or remote extender. Remote directly pointed at unit, and it works great. But if you're using a leapfrog or a IR beamer, it's no good. The biggest bonus on this unit is the discrete remote codes, and the digital coaxial audio for $30. It has 4 inputs. Of course, you can make it 8 if you're creative and use the same jack to do 2 things (component dvd with digital audio and game system with regular video and stereo audio).
