Gears of War a Lock for PC

http://pc.ign.com/articles/765/765204p1.html

Epic's Vice President, Mark Rein, gave thumbs up to rumors that Gears of War was headed to PC. Just don't expect it anytime soon.
It better not cost $60 :p

I dont think a game like this would look better on a PC, or play any better for that matter.
The game is definately designed for a gamepad, with the wall-hugging and pop out firing....

WASD wont necessarily help this game which is designed around slower paced movement and combat, where a KBM wont really buy you much...you'll need to hold a button down to pop out and aim, a button to lock-on to hide behind objects, etc.....

I guess if you don't have a 360, thats one thing :)

The mouse is a much more accurate aiming device then a tumb stick....IMO

Also as it not being better on a PC....most 360 to PC games have been improved when ported.

Thats why the KB has so many keys and most can be remapped to do any thing a game pad could do or more.

BTW I do have a 360 also and have GoW. Would rather get it on a PC tho.

I played this game for about 45 minutes on the 360 and found it incredibly boring and felt overly constrained in my actions. Perhaps the mouse and keyboard will make the game a lot better. Absolutely hated the "take cover" one button thing. Are we idiots? Do we not know how to run to a place and press a button to croutch?

Youd better get used to that kind of thing, since its popping up in every 3PS these days...its a good idea, because honestly when you "attach" to an object you now have an entirely new set of movement and shooting commands available to you that you dont have with the standard "move fast/crouch/bunnyhop" FPS move set....

You dont get this with FPS's because in a FPS environment the whole "stick to wall and lean out" thing never seems to work that well in practice, tho a few games have tried.

"Lean" buttons..seriously..has anyone EVER used this feature in a game? Half the time you spend more time "adjusting" how far away from the objects edge you are...too far away, and you lean into the building and seee nothing....too close, you lean out and get shot in the face :P

The lean in Return to Castle Wolfenstein worked well IMO.

You could not shoot when you leaned. So you'd typically lean to watch for someone coming, then release the lean when ready to fight.

I would love to see this game on PC, as far as looking better, are you trying to say that low res rendering that is HD (1920x1080) won't look better rendered at 2560x1600 with supidly high AA and anisotropic filtering? With quad-SLI now aftermarket, I'd love to see PS3 games and Xbox 360 games in real high res.

You can do the lean, crouch and shoot with PC vsersion of RB6: Vegas. Also can do pray and prey from cover also :D . RB6: Vegas on the hardest setting is murder to get thru. The AI can kill you real fast...

I thought it was said a month+ ago to see it for the fall of this year.

Ha ha...your "lean" button description is classic. So true... But the flip side is that with GOW, sometimes you don't "attach" to the wall or object that you want. I always prefer doing these actions manually, even if it takes longer to get good at.

The problem with most FPS is the fact that your character runs at 25-30 mph. So strafing in and out of cover is more effective than leaning. More realistic games with slower movement forces you to use lean, crouch, prone, roll, etc. to maximum effect. America's Army is a prime example. I don't think the lean concept is inherently broken for traditional FPS. It just needs to be implemented correctly.

MOHAA uses leaning while running masterfully. Sure it's fake and looks silly, but it's just soooo much fun. :D
