Hi

I was hoping someone could answer a question for me, I'm the proud owner of a CRT projector today, but it's beginning to have some problem with the colors the first half hour or so. That is way I'm starting to look for something new, I have been looking at some new projectors like the pearl and really like the picture, it's vary CRT like, I think that many of the DLP projectors I have seen have a very digital like picture, that is way I'm leaning towards the pearl or the new JVC.

Now for my question in the good old days both LCD and D-ILA had problem with the heat so the panels would get very hot and that would wear them out within 1000-2000 hours or something like that, is this still a problem if it is have long should I count on the panels should last.

I hope someone can answer this question.

Best Regards

LCD panels used to be based on organic material, which will deteriorate over time under high heat from the lamp. LCOS (including D-ILA and SXRD) are based on inorganic LCD, so is the new D6 LCD panels from Epson. These inorganic panels should not deteriorate in theory as opposed to organic compound based LCD.

When did D-ILA ever have this problem or do you mean ILA?

DILA never had that problem. We put tens of thousands of hours on dozens of their projectors asnd never saw anything like that.

what about dust - are the optics sealed on the Pearl and the new JVC?
