View Full Version : NASCAR Busch Series on ESPN2 HD - Orbitz 300 CDRACING 02-17-07, 01:06 PM Just wondering has anyone else experiencing audio drop outs? Its happening about every 3 or 4 mins. I got dish networks vip411 hd box. With optical out to my receiver. owine 02-17-07, 01:39 PM Sound has been just fine for me. johninbricknj 02-17-07, 01:46 PM So far no drop outs---Dish 622 with optical audio. icemannyr 02-17-07, 01:54 PM Big wreck and ESPN2 refuses to break out of the ads  CDRACING 02-17-07, 02:10 PM Thanks guys guess its just on my end then my other channels are coming in fine with my optical maybe just not getting a good beam or somthing. Thanks once again. keenan 02-17-07, 02:43 PM I was getting intermittent audio drops during some of the daily NASCAR Now shows that ESPN does with my Dish setup a week ago. Starting watching the show on DirecTV and didn't have the drops. Not having any problem with the Dish feed currently though. You know, I was really looking forward to ESPN's return to NASCAR, but I had forgotten all about the the bottom of the screen ticker. With bars across the bottom and across the top, the actual race image real estate really gets chewed up. jcarno 02-17-07, 02:44 PM In car shots have audio problems for me. Tom_Oliver 02-17-07, 02:56 PM Yeah, I have that with some of the in-car shots. Looks great with all HD cams, including in-car, but it looks like they only have one in-car camera. hiltsy855 02-17-07, 03:43 PM PQ looks ok, not excellent. Major issue - the top banner is huge. And why is there a big grayed-out space above the banner? WTF? Between the top and bottom banners, they take up 25% of the screen! hiltsy855 02-17-07, 03:59 PM Well they're saying the in-car camera is HD but it looks like SD widescreen to me. Also seeing some EE or ringing - look at the light poles around the track. mike_somd 02-17-07, 04:02 PM The incar cameras being HD were nice, howver there were no bumper cams or roof cams. Those cameras give better in car camera shots than looking out of the windshield. With the cameras being inside the car there is no worry of them getting destroyed by a wreck. Personally I would rather have SD cameras if they are on the bumper or roof over only HD cameras in the drivers compartment. There is nothing better than seeing the nose of a car hit the rear bumper cam during bump drafting. It really relays the speed, even if only in SD. I liked the announce team on ESPN much better than FOX. Darrel Waltrip and Larry McReynolds get annoying at times. I feel Rusty Wallace and Andy Petree(sp?) did a much better job. It was also nice having Dr Jerry Punch back doing NASCAR. I always liked him as a pit reporter back when ESPN did NASCAR and I enjoyed his play by play. Brent Musberger as the host was alot better than Chris Meyer on FOX. I guess I just enjoy the older anouncers from the old espn coverage. R_Willis 02-17-07, 04:03 PM In-cars looked really good to me, whether they were 16:9 SD or HD. Looked HD to me. No audio dropouts for me, btw, for the orignal poster. The "draft-boost" is the most gay 'enhancement' type stat I've ever seen. ESPN, get rid of it, like yesterday. The announce crew for ESPN is just so/so IMHO. Steve52 02-17-07, 04:05 PM I have DirecTv ESPN2HD and with about 25 laps to go I started to have major audio drop outs and pixelation thru to the end of the race. hiltsy855 02-17-07, 04:16 PM On the positive side I think there are fewer commercials for this race. I hope it stays like that, the 500 may be different. Last year it got to be ridiculous. Grandude 02-17-07, 04:29 PM Just wondering has anyone else experiencing audio drop outs? Its happening about every 3 or 4 mins. I got dish networks vip411 hd box. With optical out to my receiver. I had audio dropout 3 or 4 times every minute. Drove me crazy. I'm using a Dish VIP622 receiver. Might be a problem with reception from the 129 satellite but I got no pixelation so don't think so. :( Tom_Oliver 02-17-07, 06:18 PM I'm kind of hoping it's just Daytona. They didn't have any of the bubbles on top of the cars where the roof camera normally goes. They are there on the Cup cars, but I don't know if those are HD or not. Sometimes they remove them at the plate tracks. I notice because I have always had the in-car channels and it sucks when the roof camera is not there. Totally agree on draft boost. How dumb. I don't even think it was working right. I thought the rest of broadcast was excellent, which is what I'd expect from ESPN. I'm really looking forward to when they get the Cup races as well. RDJR 02-17-07, 06:36 PM Thought ESPN's effort was excellent. Nice to see them devote so much to the Busch Series. I realize these shows are all auditions for when they take over the Nextel Cup races at Indy, but I was pleased with what I saw and heard. BTW - I was watching via D* and did not have any dropouts. homcom 02-17-07, 07:15 PM ESPN2's production was top notch today, great to see in car HD. Also great to hear that FOX will have some of their incars in HD as well. Overall I give ESPN an A- on their return to NASCAR. The one big minus was the draft tracker which was completely useless. Great to see ESPN back with NASCAR, they have shown they will provide the coverage that ESPN deserves, something NBC never did. owine 02-17-07, 07:38 PM Yeah ESPN did great. I loved their introduction animation. I thought the production was top notch. Maybe FOX will take a cue from ESPN and kick their production into high gear. Can't wait until ESPN gets the Nextel Cup Series. Hatfield 02-17-07, 11:50 PM Yes, I had audio problems through Dish Vip622 during the race. The worst was during the National Anthem. It sounded like whoever was singing was also tapping repeatedly on her throat like D-Day from Animal House...and I couldn't find the remote to change the channel or mute it.  Finally found it and switched the channel and turned it back and the audio was fine. Had intermittent drops during the race, but not as bad as the anthem. Offline 02-18-07, 12:08 AM Is there any chance of a HD image from the in-car camera? We don't get this sport in the country nor any form of HD motorsport so it would be great if anyone could show a teaser... Tom_Oliver 02-18-07, 01:53 AM Well that anthem was so horrible I can't tell if you are just being sarcastic. Wish I lost my sound during it. lol Yes, I had audio problems through Dish Vip622 during the race. Next day's 500 was crap PQ and alot of good camera shots were missed by guys "asleep at the wheel" when it came to panning or handing of to another camera. Grandude 02-25-07, 01:36 PM Again yesterday the audio dropout was very bad on ESPN2 while watching the Busch series race. It was especially bad again during the anthem. (another awful rendition which could have been done better by a high school kid.) There were times when it was very bad, two or three dropouts per minute and other times when it went for a number of minutes without any dropout. Seemed worse when the focus was on the announcers than when on the race. Tom_Oliver 02-25-07, 01:43 PM Hmm, no problem with DirecTV yesterday.
