Doesn't look too good. Picture looks kind of "muddy" overall. Macroblocking on motion. Macroblocking with the reds even with very little motion. Edge enhancement (transparent fringe around the players)

I don't understand how CBS can get such great PQ from the 50 yard cam at NFL games, but can't get the center court camera on NCAA basketball right. In a basketball arena the camera is a lot closer to the action than in a football stadium.

Watching WOIO-DT, Cleveland via WOW cable. One WeatherNow sub fixed @ 2.5Mbps.

I am watching the game on KCBS in Los Angeles and there are no sub-channels and still there is lots of macroblocking.

I think one of the reasons for better picture quality on NFL games is due to outdoor vs. indoor lighting.

OTA in LA, I haven't seen any macroblocking at all during the first half.

WCBS-DT NYC Cablevision.

Very dark video on Army vs Navy. Looks like there is little to no lights under the baskets from the main action cam.
I see they can't iris up the main camera cause center of the floor is already to bright.

Blocking here as well in Mpls on WCCO-DT with no sub channels. I commented on this last week about how NCAA games have far more artifacts than NFL games. My theory is it has to do with the light color of the court and all of the lights and scoreboards causing reflections on the floor. These reflections change rapidly and cause different lighting conditions for the camera which I think may cause problems with encoders much like strobe lights do. NBA arenas are even worse and I think is part of the reason TNT has so many problems with blocking.

Just my theory.
