I'm just glad I'll be able to see my Penguins in Indianapolis. I was scared that Indy would be considered a Chicago market and have the Blackhawks game. I have center ice via E*, but I love to see the Penguins in HD. I guess Crosby v Ovechkin is enough star power to make it the marquee game for NBC.

The TV deal sucks, it’s called being sarcastic. All Gary Bettman has been saying for about five years now is that HD will save the sport. However NHL HD games are hard to find unless you live in an already established market that has a dedicated HD Local Cable Sports Channel. You can argue VS is available in HD yet try to find it NOW unless you have Comcast. The few HD games available on Center Ice are for already established fans. Furthermore living in LA I see enough Sharks and Stars games w/ the local teams; it would have been nice to see The Boy Wonders on the Penguins and Capitals in HD not in SD on CI.

This is ridiculous, I am in Albany and Im getting the Washington game and Its only in SD(even though the map has us as the rangers). Now I need to watch the rangers on my slingbox, what a joke.

I've been disappointed by NBC's NHL coverage two weeks in a row now (my first two weeks watching the NHL on NBC). Last week, Dallas vs. Colorado didn't come on til halfway through the first period. I understand feed problems. Now I was looking forward to watching Dallas here in Arkansas but we get Pittsburgh-Washington. I kind of got excited about watching Ovechkin and Crosby in HD but no, it's Chicago and New York. If you're not going to show the future superstars, at least show the team closest to me. And it doesn't sound like there are feed problems this time.

Atlanta. THey had the golf game until 3:34. THen they had the Rangers game for a few min. THen they switched to the PItt game, but it was in SD. THen they had the game in HD from around 3:50. Such losers.

well a whole period goes by with no Ovechkin or Crosby. CHI-NY is in HD but if I was only watching for HD quality, the Daytona 500 looks great.

Oh well, maybe they'll get it right for the 2nd period

well I give up, it's still Chicago and New York. Dallas isn't on NBC for awhile anyways so I'm done for a few weeks. I really want to support the NHL but NBC's coverage has been disappointing and I don't get Versus on Dish Network so my options are limited. Oh well.

We lost HD in albany. Got thr lasy like 7minutes of the first period and in between periods in hd. But not now

Edit: got it back with 7 min in the 2nd period. Think NBC is having problems or are all these mixups local?

I tuned in right at 3:30 and saw golf still being played, in SD. Finally at about 3:35 they say they're switching to the hockey game and my OTA local affiliate's HD feed suddenly turns white. Then a horrific screeching sound comes out. I switched to the SD channel, and there are the Pens. I kept switching back and forth; at one point they had the HD feed of Chicago, but they finally got it right, after about 10 minutes. I had HD the rest of the way.

I have a question about the NBC coverage. Why do they have that stupid drop down graphic displaying how long a player (like Sid or Ovechkin) has been on the ice for a shift? It takes up a lot of space IMO. I've seen them do it in the other games they've shown too. I find it really annoying.

I think they use it to draw in casual viewers who want to watch the stars of the league. Using the timer you know when they are on the ice.

However, personally I hate it, for me it just adds clutter to the screen.

Washington/Pittsburgh is on Universal HD at 1am Eastern tonight and 8am Eastern Monday morning for those that got the Chicago/NY Rangers game.

Our local NBC affiliate, WILX, finally got the HD thing figured out and working. Had HD and Audio of the WAS-PIT game. Quality was pretty good, but I was bouncing between that, golf and pre race.
