hey, iam kinda new to this h-t thing so i may ask stupid questions.. anyway. i just bought a nice nad reciever and dvd, and i told the guy in the store i wanted the best when i already had taken out my wallet. so he gave me a digital caoxial cord for sound between the dvd and reciver.. here comes the wierd part, why didnt he try to sell me a hdmi cable to connect between my tv and dvd? both my tv and dvd can handle it no problem, iam only using a scart cable between them. so i wonder.. if i replace it with a hdmi cable, will the picture quality improve then when i watch a movie?? iam almost 99.9% sure it certainly will

Not necessarily - HDMI might help if we're talking about HD material, but a DVD is only 480i material - so it's unlikely you'll see a great PQ improvement going from scart to HDMI.
