If I take my Motorola 8300HD cable box to a friends house across town, will it work through his cable? I want to take my HDTV over to his house since he doesn't have one. Thanks in advance

Probably it will. I have taken mine to a couple of "demos" for friends.
I would suggest you take just the box and try the low rez inputs to his TV before you lug your HDTV over there.

As he will be on a different node, it probably will work...but when they run audits and see it responding from a different node with a different IP address, you will have some explaining to do - if they don't just turn you off completely with no appeal.
