Are these Blu-ray exclusive, I know Apocalytpo was a Touchstone/Icon movie. Any news on an HDDVD release of either?

There has been no news on either movie Touchstone/Icon I believe is an BR exclusive studio but I could be wrong. Braveheart has a possibility of being released, but as I said before there has been nothing said on this title as of yet.

Touchstone=Disney. Disney=BD. Therefore, Apocalypto is BD exclusive.

Braveheart is a Paramount film. Paramount= HD-DVD and BD.

When Braveheart comes out, as long as Par doesn't stop making HD-DVDs before that happens, it'll be on both formats.

Apocalypto, Saw 3 and the new Rocky are coming to european HD DVD. I've seen all the covers for the standard versions and they all have " Also available on HD DVD" on them. These are UK releases.

Is there some sort of link where you can show us, I was under the impression that warner distributed Icon Movies on dvd/hddvd in the UK, which would mean Apocalytpo would be released as an HD DVD, if this is true it is great news.

That would be awesome news. I'd get all three.

I'd gleefully buy Apocalypto as an import HD DVD just like I will with The Prestige and some others.

xploitedcinema.com is where i'll be looking.

I'll probably grab La Haine, Total Recall, and a Rambo flick sometime this year.

Count me in getting Apocalypto & Rocky Balboa if true. Rocky was my #2 film for 2006 and Apocalypto was #10. I would pay the xtra cost for these rare BD films that get HD DVD releases in the UK...

The Apocalypto box has the MGM branding on the back, this is the region 2 cover and definatley states also available on HD DVD on the back of the cover. Rocky Balboa is released by Columbia pictures, saw 3 has LG on it so I take it to be lions gate. These discs are all screeners, they are released to dealers before the actual release to the general public, I would expect these to be released in the UK around May/ June, maybe a little sooner.Hope this helps.

Braveheart has long been finished on HD-DVD. It's just sitting in Paramount's warehouses right now. They are waiting for the Blu-Ray version to be ready and then it will be announced for both formats. Braveheart was originally going to be one of Paramount big early 2007 releases on HD-DVD but those plans changed once Paramount decided they would support both formats equally in 2007.

Apocalypto will only be on Blu-Ray in the US, so the only chance to see it on HD-DVD would be an import by a studio that supports HD-DVD in Europe or Japan.

Those aren't real covers. I don't know where you got them, but... jeez, they're not even GOOD fakes.

1) they look like bad photoshop using JPEG's downloaded from the interwebs. There's even spine lines left over on Rocky Balboa from a cover template. See how the covers are "all white" and then there's noise around ONLY the text and pictures? Yawn.

2) The BBFC hasn't rated APOCALYPTO or ROCKY BALBOA or any of their special features for DVD yet, so the covers wouldn't have ratings on them anyway. You need a BBFC rating in the UK to release anything on video. Also, you can't do "Unrated" versions on the UK. Close as you can do is the 'unseen' marketing stunt they pulled on HOSTEL.

3) Apocalypto has "English" as the main language. Uh... the film is in Yucatan. There is no English dub.

Thanks for playing. These are just mock-ups made by someone who got bored. Not saying who, but I am calling them as bull.

You are absolutely right. For a start the HD DVD logo is fake and if you look closely at the copyright on APOCALYPTO it says "copyright 2004 newline entertainment"
hmmmmm FAKE FAKE FAKE!!! what a bummer!

Touchstone is a logo Disney puts on their films that aren't appropriate to put out under the Disney name.
