I have had a Mitsubishi HD1000 projector for about three weeks now with my DISH VIP 622 receiver / DVR hooked up to it through the HDMI output routed through a 2 in 1 out HDMI swticher from monoprice. I have my Toshiba A2 HD DVD player feeding the other HDMI input into the HDMI switcher.

This setup has worked fine until tonight with me switching at will between the two HDMI sources going into the projector.

Tonight after watching a movie on the HD DVD player I switched the HDMI input to the VIP 622 but the proj showed "no signal". After playing with the switch a bit I turned off the projector and unplugged and plugged back in the HDMI cable. Turned the proj back on and still no signal.

Turned the proj. off again and swapped cables between the DISH VIP 622 and Toshiba A2 HD DVD player. No change. DVD HDMI signal is fine but no signal from the DISH receiver.

Turned proj. off and swapped inputs into the HDMI switcher with same results.

My testing has eliminated a bad cable as the problem since I can swap cables and they both work fine when connected to the A2 HD DVD player. Also can't be the HDMI switcher as I have swapped which input the VIP 622 and A2 are using and have the same result.

The only conclusion I can draw is that the HDMI output of the DISH VIP622 has suddenly stopped working for some reason.

Any ideas?

Check to see if you got a signal via component. Maybe the whole 622 went south.

On the early versions of the 622 there was a problem with the HDMI input. It will stop working and require a replacement (I have mine replaced). If I remember correctly the problem was limited to the "E" series and earlier. Could it be that somehow you got an old model ? Check the serial number on the back and see what letter it contains (series). Either way, just call to get a replacement. They know the issue.

Thanks for the info. I will check my serial number.

The component output works fine. This morning I tried a second round of troubleshooting and did the one thing I had not done the night before. I bypassed the HDMI switcher and plugged the 25' HDMI cable directly into the VIP622 and got a signal. I t hen reconnected it the normal way routed through the HDMI switcher and it now works!

I don't have a clue as to why it decided to start working again but I am happy. If it keeps happening then I will get a replacement one but right now things are cool again.
