There is a new Video Filter version which is both 480i and 1080i compatible. It automatically switches between the two standards and sets the CGMS flag and Widescreen Signaling to the users preference.

I undestand there are some DVR's which can record 1080i. There must be some kind of restrictions placed on these as far as what shows can and can't be recorded. As an example, some premium channels like HBO, are setting the flags to Copy Once or Copy Never.

Is this new capability of the filter, something that users may be interested in?

There are recorders that can record HD material, but not from Component Video as far as I know. Unless you count:

- Blackmagic capture cards
- W-VHS recorders

I'm not sure if the $3,000 Bluray recorder, only available in Japan, can record HD from Component Video.
