View Full Version : RCA DT100M mini drop amplifier review
Roger Lococco 02-20-07, 09:40 PM bi-directional 10 db amp, bought it at Best Buy,hooked it up to Silver Sensor, barely made a difference, maybe a very slight increase in signal strength. Not worth 30 bucks, back to BB it goes, where a few other opened and returned ones are on the racks.
Maybe the amp is not the problem. Could be the antenna and/or the reception.
An amp will only amplify what it receives from the antenna. So, if you have a poor signal, you amplify a poor signal.
Roger Lococco 02-21-07, 04:52 PM I get pretty good reception on my Accurian, low 70's to high '80s on the meter.I thought it might make the channels I receive with ocassional dropouts more "stable'',didn't work, also I thought I might be able to pick a few more channels,no luck there either.
hawkmankt 11-27-07, 12:30 PM I picked this sucker up last night to replace the cheapie free one that came with my Philips MANT940...
Guess what? The cheapie free one worked better than this $30 turd I picked up at Best Buy. I'll be taking her back today. Way to go RCA.
You may also want to consider returning the MANT940 and get a real antenna if you have reception problems. ;)
hawkmankt 11-28-07, 09:34 AM Nice one ratman. Do you work for RCA or did you just sit downstairs in your Mom's basement at your computer until you came up with that?
I thought this was a place for help. Not another forum with a load of a-holes.
AntAltMike 11-28-07, 09:57 AM I also sit downstairs in my mother's basement at my computer and also recommend that he return the MANT940 and get a real antenna.

Moron...
I'm 53 years old, my Mother is dead and I don't work for RCA. But, I do go out of my way to respond to individuals such as yourself that call me an A-hole.
And... you may want to read post #2 "Quick Draw", that could be a plausible explanation. You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. ;)
From a technical perspective and experience, a "traditional" antenna will outperform any antenna that doesn't "look" like an antenna. I hope that helps YOU! :D

And you don't? No need to comment if you have nothing to add with just a minimal amount of intelligence. Why bother other than to troll?
Anyone with a little experience would agree with my post(s) in this thread.
And... it's spelled "manner". ;)
videobruce 12-01-07, 12:49 PM You could of at least given him an example of a "real antenna".
Oh, I got the "trolling" from you.
So could you...
Review the thread. No posts since February, then someone decides to chime in with shoot from the hip experience (using words like "turd"). The mature reply to my post would have been, "... do you have any suggestions"? But no... I received a response from a what appears to be a 12 year old. And then came you...
Icon Smith 12-01-07, 10:24 PM I purchased the RCA DT100M to boost my cable signal and as advertised it did just that. Before installing it my signal on most QAM frequencies was -10 dB and now they are all around 0 dB.
I also got mine online at Buy.com and paid about $10 less (including shipping) than BB.
captnemo 02-01-09, 10:05 PM is this good to use with dvr 8300hd box. how does it compare to the radioshack amplifier
