Hope this hasn't been posted before- I have an 8300HD running Version 1.87 and i am having HDCP problems through the HDMI port. I called Charter in the dallas/Fort worth area of Texas, and they didn't even know what firmware was. Is there any i can update it manually? Thanks.

No, you can't, they push it to your unit. But, though there is no guarantee, you should be getting an upgrade to 1.89 before Mar 11 to deal with DST issues. You might use the term "software" and ask to speak with an engineer if the CSR still doesn't understand what you are talking about.

OK, thanks. Do you know if Charter usually sends upgrades out? Or do you have to take your box in and switch it out?

No, you shouldn't have to take your unit in. Usually they push updates early in the morning when they update the IPG. Sometimes you won't even know anything happened. Other times you'll have an idea something was changed because the unit will power on to Ch 1, or at least something other than it normally does when you turn it on.
Funny you should mention this, because it looks like Charter pushed 1.88.25.1 last night in Fort Worth.

They still should push 1.89 because AFAIK 1.88 does not fix DST problems and DST starts Mar 11 for those of you who change times. Not sure why they'd push 1.88 this late and not just go right to 1.89. :(

Your right, i got 1.88 today, and it fixed my HDCP problem...still looking for 1.89 though...
