View Full Version : I guess we'll never see DVE??
Cvetan1 02-21-07, 08:32 AM Just checked Amazon, and the Digital Video Essentials - HD DVD pre-order date is pushed back till March, 27th??
What the heck is going on with this, does anybody know?? I'd love to get my XA1 calibrated before the format war ends. :o
Mike
Pretty much all of HDScape's discs (with 2 exceptions) have been pushed back. They are having difficulties.

TomHuffman 02-21-07, 11:11 AM That's it. If they push the release back yet again I'm canceling the order and waiting for Avia HD DVD. I'm tired of being jerked around by these guys. These perpetual phony release dates constitute borderline consumer fraud.
Releasing a known defective disc, would be "fraud".
Cvetan1 02-21-07, 03:02 PM Toshiba does it with their players, is that fraud?

:D
MovieMinded 02-21-07, 04:19 PM DVE is going to use the most advanced HDi features to date, so I'm guessing that the checking of those features is causing some delays. You can't fault them for delaying a title to make sure it's as good as possible, especially when Fox and Sony are delaying Blu-Ray titles that have no features on them at all. At least DVE is going to have some pretty advanced features once it is released.
Hey ...just be happy the HD DVD News section on HDD finally got an update:

Frank Stein 02-21-07, 08:52 PM Screw Kane. Just cancelled my order for this non existent disk. If he can't get it right after all the postponements, I doubt he'll ever get it right. Don't really need it and now don't ever want it. Plus, since he isn't releasing on BD (my preferred and the best format), I've now really lost interest in buying it for a format that will dead by summer.
Gary Murrell 02-21-07, 08:54 PM **** DVE, Avia is the ticket ;)

Thank you, now go away. You stepped over the line with your last two sentences.

Gary-
Where is that disk to be found?
Thanks,
Mike
BTW, **** 'em both! :D
Megalith 02-21-07, 11:03 PM What are the benefits of using the HD-DVD version over the standard definition version of AVIA?

well thats the only issue :D , Avia is supposed to be coming soon, all this DVE business is just a big joke, I am tired of the delays, this is going to hurt them bad IMHO, especially if Avia makes it out
I have always preffered Avia to DVE anyway though, Guy Kuo is Da' Bomb ;)
-Gary
I'm with Gary on this one. If they delay again I will cancel my pre order and wait for AVIA... Another false release date! Fool me once shame on me fool me twice... and so on and so on...
originalprime 02-22-07, 02:13 AM I've had my name in the hat for DVE, but am interested in Avia.
Is there a reported price for Avia, and is it going to be a combo disc?
ResOGlas 02-22-07, 02:27 AM DVE on HD DVD? Hah! I've been waiting forever.

There's at least 3 versions coming out - SD, HD-DVD, and BD. Don't know about SD PAL.

Art Sonneborn 02-22-07, 10:53 AM I've mentioned this already but the interactive use aspects of the HDDVD of DVE is what has vexed them. I've heard that there will be a way to pull up a tutorial of Joe explaining various patterns how they are used and what one should be looking for during calibration. This should be one of the best real world uses of the formats capability and worth waiting for IMO. Just like you guys I'd like to have had it yesterday but............

Art, thats reassuring to hear. I was beginning to wonder if the problem was that neither format could be properly calibrated and the HD test patterns showed that.
The tutorials sound like a wonderful idea! The old version always left me wondering if I left out an important step in the process to get the absolute best result.

What a childish statement! If you can't stay on topic then don't post!

tlreddragon 02-22-07, 12:24 PM I don't mind, I just sent my pj in for repair and won't be seeing it for weeks anyways. :D
martylane 02-22-07, 01:04 PM No major loss, as you will most likely not receive any printed instructions on how to use it, if the D-Theater versions are any hint. Very sad IMHO.
Nasty N8 02-22-07, 05:18 PM Wow just takes time to get things correct I have 2 versions of the SD discs and will wait for the HD disc to arrive.

you seem to know something.. could this be one disk you saw when the HDDVD crew paid you a visit? even in its early stages it would make sense that they might use it to get the most out of your system for the presentation...
