Ordered the HD DVD Version they sent me the two disk SD version, of course they are out at the store level and the disk is $34.99 now anyhow, I'm wondering if I should just keep the damn thing or return it, Anyone see the quality of the SD Version?

Hard to believe you're even considering it. The Departed on HD DVD is listed as a tier one title as far as PQ, and it has a THD audio track. It's a combo disc, so you get the SD version with it.

Not to mention that BB didn't send you what you ordered.

If it was me, I'd demand a refund and buy the HD DVD somewhere else. BB hasn't done anything to earn your trust or your money.

I bought The Departed from Amazon, saved money, and was knocked out by the movie and the HD DVD experience when I watched it last night.

I would demand BB send me the RIGHT movie at the same price.

I'd return it and demand the 22.99 price on the HDDVD. The HDDVD is a combo so you get the 1disc DVD version as well..

Their was an error with BBs upc system they had the HDDVD crossrefrenced with the 2 disc DVD-SE. So it their error. If you cheek a lot of the other departed threads many pepole have had issues with instore pickup. Either BB dosent grab it or the give the 2 disc SE...

But the PQ look very good. AQ is great as well. No play back errors either..

The departed is listed as tier 1? I think it looked beautiful in HD DVD, but some scenes were really plagued with noise.

Maybe tier 2? Is there a higher tier than tier 1?

YEah well BB supposedly had 2 HD DVD's in stock. You know how you get the 2nd email confirming?

Well I specifically bought 2 because it say departed, in stock. I thought might as well get another and make it a movie night. Got the email saying both were pulled and ready for pick up.

Show up at the store... guess what no departed... Sure they had my Batman Begins, but guess what? No departed. I had to run 2 miles up the road to CC to get it.

And not even so much as a "Im sorry, the error was on our part, sorry to inconvienence you"

Nope, not even one frown... I wasnt asking for anything for free or a discount mind you, just a simple, sorry to inconvienence you, and make you travel 30 mins out of your way for nothing. Batman begins is awsome, so I cant say it wasnt for anything, but still, my whole reason was for the departed, and well, their service just sucks... Almost worth the extra day or two wait form amazon.

VERY common. In fact, MOST of the time I order online from BB and get the email stating it's ready for pick-up, and when I arrive, they don't have it -- MOST of the time. So it's not really an email that your order is "ready to pick-up". What it means it that your order is ready to have you go to the store to see if it's in stock or not. That's what it really means.

What do you honestly expect from buying from huge retail chains who pay their employees low as possible and could really care less about you?

Walmart has it for 29.96, got mine for 24.99 they price matched FYE. I also scored the Prestige for 24.96 pretty good day yesterday.

It happened to me as well. Went there on Tuesday to pick it up but was given the special edition version. He told me it was sold out and nothing he can do about it so I left. Check stock on Friday and they had it in stock again but the price went up. I went back in with the same paper work and grabbed it off the shelf and went to the pick-up area and handed them the paper work. She rang it up and all is well. You have 8 days to pick it up, they have to sell it to you at the price that is on your pick-up print-out.

Well I called customer support and they are supposed to send me the HD-DVD version. Hopefully they get it right this time. I think what they are doing is wanting you to open the DVD so they will not accept the return.

Yep I got screwed on the store pick up as well. They didn't have any in stock but the guy said he could get me one when they came in, but it would be $35. I told him no thanks and said that I would get it cheaper on Amazon.

Well, I called customer support and they told me to take my movie with my receipt to my local Best Buy. Luckily for me they had 2 HD-DVD copies left. They wouldn't swap it out, instead they refunded my card for the BB online purchase, and then let me purchase it for the $22.99 I paid online. I won't be ordering from BB online again.

I've had the same experience with Circuit City.
Get the email it's ready for pick-up.
Drive to store.
No stock!
