Shot in the dark...lol

i purchased an HDMI to COMPONENT transcoder, works fine on my mitsubishi rptv in all modes(480P, 720. 1080..etc)

BUT this is where it gets weird, and maybe an expert opinion may help.

It doesn't work on ANY pioneer tv? other than on 480P?, what happens is i get horizontal color banding and the image dims and brightens constantly when i set the output of my hidef sat to 1080I??, i tried it on my pro-520, then tested it on a pro-fhd1, pdp-5070..same thing...tested on a few toshiba lcds, a sharp..works perfect in 1080??

I Then disconnect the transcoder and reconnect my hd satellite via component to my pro-520. i entered the service menu and adjusted some of my overscan, Now here is where it gets weird, in the service menu under the Screen size adjustments settings, i switched to 31K(480P) from 33K(1080) and lo and behold the image from my hidef sat was doing the EXACT same thing as when i had the transcoder hooked up?? the image was all dark and color was banding horizontally?, i mean i was in the service menu and it was all green BUT it was clearly doing the exact same thing as when the transcoder was hooked up

Is there some kind of adjustment to the 31K settings in the service menu that i'm missing.

Any IDEAS..please..
