I searched a few times to try to find a similar problem, but couldn't find any mention of it (it could be because of my inability to describe it effectively). Hopefully this isn't something that has been discussed previously, I apologize in advance if it is.
I have a Sony Wega KV-32FS200 that is about 4 years old and about a week ago the picture started flipping up occasionally (kind of like how the picture used to scroll up when the vertical hold knob was bumped on old TV sets). The problem has gotten worse and now about 10 minutes after being turned on, the screen jumps constantly (again almost exactly like if i turned a vertical hold knob). If I turn the TV off for a while, the picture is ok for a few minutes.
It is out of warranty, but I called Sony support and they told me that this is a known problem and that if I unplug the TV for a while that it should be fine (that it was probably some sort of static buildup). Unforunately, this did not solve the problem.
My question is whether or not it is worth calling a repairman in to look at the TV. Does this sound like something common or easy to fix? Should I be looking at buying a new TV instead?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Sorry for my poor descriptions and lack of precise terminology.
