I cannot believe it, The repair shop returned my 50" XBR1 Today with a newly installed Optical Block. The green is gone. A tech fired it up, HD Looked great as usual and then he went into the service menu to show me the test patterns. Blue was blue, red was red and white was pink!! A huge pink haze all across the bottom, right side and top. He says it was perfect in the shop, and asked me to move my Center channel speaker and my fronts. We did and it was still there. Since when can't we have a center channel close to the TV, that is where it frickin' goes! The repair shop has been very nice and helpful, they took it back to install another OB. What a mess! Best looking TV out there when it works right, but I don't believe it can. I am afraid to go to the JVC because I know how beautiful the XBR's can be. But I am going to try, I want my money back to buy the JVC 61' LCOS or a 60" XBR2, we will see what sony says, I am calling them right now. 3000 bones to watch a 16" SD CRT for two weeks, what bullstein!! Wish me luck.

I feel your Pain :o

Alright guys, Help me out. What do I do next? I Spoke with sony 2nd level and told them to refund my money or send me an XBR2, I don't want anything to do with the XBR1's. She tells me she noted this and a tech will call me back within 72 hours, which will be monday. Great, more time with no TV. The local shop says they want to wait for Sony's answer before they do anymore work. It's XBR2 or bust for me, how do I do it. I was nice on the phone, I fear my wife will freak out on them. She misses Am. Idol in HD!!!!

Walmart right of the top of my head. But they don't sell Sony's do they? :o

Then they're the buying clubs like Costco

Target Stores "will issue a full refund for "most" items returned within 90 days in new condition, with the original receipt or packing slip, packaging and accessories."


There's that loophole "MOST" :p

I bought it at Best Buy 7 months ago. They tell me to have it repaired, I feel it's a lemon. This tech told me he has repaired about 80 XBR1's in the past 4 months.
