Just to clarify, this movie is distributed by Disney on home video in the US. So it is a BD exclusive domestic release (available now).

However, Warner Brothers has the video distribution in Europe (WB had the US theatrical distribution as well). So, as has been said above, if you only have HD DVD and are not BD capable, you'll have to import it.

I have no problem importing it. Region free is a good thing as well as international distribution rights.

Once Blu-ray gets with the times then "I" will get with the times, when they can compete 100% with build quality, compatability and non-compromise on features, not to mention price, THEN we will think about it....

Till then it is The Prestige import for me as well.

I would love to go off on this but I will bite my lip, basically none of the above is true is the least :( , inquire with happy dual format owners and they can confirm this 100%, HD-DVD is my pick for sure, but to not own BD right now is just hurting yourself in the end ;)

I think he's talking about features like IME. It's true until June as far as that goes.

Hea champ not everyone has the money to blow on two Hi Def media players. One Hi Def format is fine for me. If it is not available on my format It will be available on DVD. Upconverted is a better option than buying a BD player.

Why? I can wait and get it in HD DVD for my AX2. I can aford it. Cheaper than getting a less than BD-J compliant player. And no, I don't want a game player.

If you really truely think upconversion is better or even close to BD then you are either partially blind or a liar.

Dude it is a better option than forking out a grand on the flavor of the month. You might want to chill on the attacks. One might conclude you don't get out much

See...even you prefer HD DVD over BD. This is a war--buying in to the other side (when you want the one you already have to win) just prolongs the battle.

See...even you prefer HD DVD over BD. This is a war--buying in to the other side (when you want the one you already have to win) just prolongs the battle. Not if the side you are buying was going to win anyway. The difference of course is between what you want to happen and what is going to happen. I have seen people saying that buying BD prolongs the battle, but that isn't likely to be true if BD was going to win anyway. Goes the other way to. If HD DVD is going to win then buying it likely does not prolong the battle (might shorten it).

I forked out 500 bucks and for my Samsung and have been totally impressed. I just dont like short sided thought. Ive heard people on both sides saying that they dont need one side or the other because upconversion is fine. If anyone thinks that they dont need to "waste" there money on High Def because of upconversion then that is a lame argument.

The problem ridden Samsung that they cant give away? HD-DVD has plenty of content to keep me busy. I would hardly say my preference is short sided thought or a lame argument. I rather take my kids to Disneyland than buy a BD player. For me with HD-DVD inhouse, upconversion is a fine alternative than buying in to a format still in development.

I bought the SD Version of this movie and played it on my HD A1 (via 1080i with HDMI) and it looked amazing. Great transfer and great movie. Overall an excellent experience!

Well I guess for casual movie fans that is an option. But there are plenty of other BD options if you dont like the samsung for whatever reason, that wont cost you an arm or leg. And if you feel that BD is still in development is hurting its performance then youre being short sided or you havent scene it.

P.S. I have annual passes to Disney world in Orlando with my wife and could still afford my BD player and discs on about 20,000 a year.

Whats strange here is that you have seen it a still claim its the second coming. Perhaps your the one that doesn't have a clue and needs to rethink your idea of what is good and what is not. I certainly believe you do since you spend most of your time in the HD DVD section spreading lies.

Forgive me I am just being curious.
How the heck can you afford a $1000 Blu-ray player and have 91 Blu-ray movies at roughly $25 a pop on a 20,000 a year income? And Disney too?

just about the best BD player (the Sony S1) can be had for under 700$, what does that high-end option( equal in build and features to that Sony) cost?, oh yeah the same damn thing  unless you go with a Gen 1 XA1, do any of the Toshibas do 24p direct? ;) what about playback my copy of Reservoir Dogs or Memento? :(

if you can afford one format you can afford two, anything else is childish "Cowboys and Indians"

Back to topic: I bought the Prestige on SD-DVD ($13.99 @ Frys so I couldn't resist) and I loved it. PQ was good for a DVD but I don't have an upscaling player so I can't comment on how it looks upscaled. However, I don't think I would spend 30+ dollars just to have it in HD.

The Illusionist is a far superior movie in my opinion. The Prestige gave away the ending about way too early. The dramatic final shot was like "No crap, I figured that out 1/2 hour ago". Just my opinion.

I wonder how good The Prestige on HD-DVD will be? The Blu-Ray release has received very good to stellar PQ and AQ reviews. It also has a 24/48 LPCM track, something WB has yet to deliver on HD-DVD... or Blu-Ray. Even their lossless tracks are 16 bits so far.

He never said anything about comparison to BD, so how about going back to the BR Forum where you came from and do your flaming and name calling there.

Well I guess for casual movie fans that is an option.

You don't appear to comprehend what a movie fan is. A movie fan is a fan of movies. What you are talking about is a High Def fan, and such a person may or may not care about what is actually being presented, as long as it is in High Definition.

Personally, I care about the content of films far more than the number of pixels used to present them. Accept it or not, that actually makes me a movie fan (even if it's VHS). The only thing clear about you is that you are a BluRay fan, and can't stand anyone who doesn't agree with your BluRay pushing perspective.

You have no business in this forum so please go away.
