I was at my local Record & Tape Traders (http://www.recordandtapetraders.com/) in Maryland (Dundalk location) and in their DVD section they had the HD DVD ($37) and Blu-ray ($32) releases of The Departed along with the DVD. This is the first time I've seen either HD format there. I know it seems minor, but perhaps we'll begin to see more independent music shops across the country carry HD DVD and BD... :)
Wow, are they still around? I haven't been to one of them in over 20 years. They used to rent out LPs for $1 a day. They used to sell rare albums too. Interesting place.

Yep, they have 8 or 9 locations in MD. They still carry LP (limited selection) and can track down rare releases for you.
I bought The Good Shepherd there today, considering their super liberal return policy (14 day return, opened/unopened, money back, no questions), I figured if it's defective I can get my cash back w/ no problem. Over the past few weeks they now carry:
HD DVD:
The Departed - $33.95
The Good Shepherd - $31.95
Cream - Live at the Royal Albert Hall - $27.95
NIN - Beside You in Time - $22.95 (bought this one there too, right after Best Buy told me none of their locations in MD were going to stock it on HD DVD  )
BD:
The Departed - $31.95
Casino Royale - $31.95
Night at the Museum - $34.95
NIN - Beside You in Time - $22.95
The films above are mixed in their DVD section while NIN and Cream are in Music DVD section.

That's good to see these smaller stores selling HD-DVD and BD discs, but damn, they're expensive!
