I have a 60" Sony LCD KF-WE610 (manufactured 2003, purchased november 2003, 2nd bulb installed december 2005).

Questions:

1) What would shorten the lamp life faster: using the TV 5 hours straight in one day or turning on the TV for 1 hour 5 times in one day? (lots of assumptions here I guess, but by and large, what would the answer be?)

2) If you have the TV on, but there is no video source, is the lamp draining?

Thanks.

britness & or contrast set too hight.
'uneven' power, many things can casue this (vacuum clear, in wall ac units, plug in heats ect...)
turning the tv on/off 'lots' of times in a day
all will shorten the lifespan of the lamp.

& yes if you have the tv ON the lamps is lite in the back, if you turn off all the lights in the room at night the tv screen will be dark gray. Leaving the tv on w/ No input will not be as bad for the lamp then if you turn the tv off then back 1 hour later. Just don't forget it is on at the end of the day
