Please *STICKY* titles that do not play on 360 Maybe I missed the sticky...cough cough..

Can we please have a sticky on titles that do not play on the Xbox 360?
I spent cash on the Heart HD DVD to find it does not play and then to find threads on the net concuring it does not play. Save us some time and money.

Heart HD DVD on 360 did not work for me. My xbox is up to date and online.

Scott

P.S.

I also am having issues with Chicago Earth Wind and Fire and searching after the fact found this thread.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=768317

Lets get this sticky going. A movie buyer with a 360 should not have to search before he buys a U.S. HD DVD to know if it works.

360 additional issue but not as major (number 3 for the eve)....this is not my night! I have never had this issue either but the third and last disc I bought is the Eagles ( I was on a concert kick ) and the LFE was not there on 5.1 surround. The sound track would not kick the sub from stand by. I paused the movie and did a surround test from the reciever and it kicked on for the test only. Of course the 360 dash board kicked it on as well. I have watched numerous HD DVD titles and never had this issue either. The receiver was showing "Dolby D".

Off to work..please chime in on anything definitive as not playing well on the 360. Especially if it is suppose to be a well known issue as many folks out there still may not know about it.

I could not play Discovery Atlas Australia on my Xbox 360 add-on. Ended up sending it back to Netflix.

Doesn't this seem weird? All the titles are off the wall disc and a concert disc. No movies listed.

Over on the Insider's Thread Amir mentioned that along with the DTS update, title compatibility will also improve.

Along with complaining about these titles we need to complain about no hdmi.

wouldnt this go in the Hardware forum as it is hardware related???? This doe not have to do with the software but the incompatibility of the hardware to play it....

You could say the thread could be moved..but I feel it is more an issue with the software and how it is being authored. Also one looking to buy HD movies for his 360 would look in this forum first in my opinion. So here we can flag titles.

Mentioned thus far:

Heart HD-DVD
Chicago Earth Wind and Fire
Eagles HD DVD questionable LFE output on DD 5.1 audio track (could some one else check?)
Discovery Atlas Australia
HDScape Exotic Salt Water Aquarium

I have Alice Cooper Live in Montreux - it stutters like crazy - almost like its been converted down from a higher frame rate.
Also on Pulse - the making of shows green blocks scrambling around the screen, as does the theatrical trailer on xXx.

It worked just fine in my HD DVD add on. I rented it from Netflix 3 maybe 4 weeks ago. It looked great BTW.

A BBonline copy of Discovery Atlas:Italy wouldn't load in my 360. I played the Brazil one without issues. I reported it and should get another copy soon. There was a small scratch along the outer edge but didn't look bad enough to mess up loading. We'll see with the replacement.

Otherwise, I had a "no-loading" problem with a rented "Hollywoodland" that resolved itself after cleaning the disc, pus a NIB "Fearless" paused on the ending spear fight, that also resolved with cleaning.

So, out of 40+ HD-DVDs, three had issues, two were rentals, and two resolved with cleaning. No too shabby, IMHO.

Wolf Creek's making of does not play on the 360. I also had issues with audio skipping throughout the movie. I had to return the movie because of those two reasons.

Scott, I appreciate what you are trying to do here (I really do - especially if you save me or anyone else $$) but the obvious question is this: what happens if I rent, for example, the Heart HD-DVD and it plays fine on my 360 AO? What conclusions can we make? Even if there are numerous compliants about a particular title, we still do not know for certain it will problematic on 100% of the addons. In fact, we don't know for certain it will be a problem on the majority of players.

Danny

P.S. I just put the Heart HD-DVD in my queue. :)

... but the obvious question is this: what happens if I rent, for example, the Heart HD-DVD and it plays fine on my 360 AO? What conclusions can we make?Well, at the very least, a list of "possibly bad" HD DVDs for the 360 is useful in that it may keep someone from spending money on a product that may not work. Like you, renting it to verify is a lot better than buying to verify. ;)

EDIT: and if someone gets a "listed as bad" movie to work, then others can try to verify.

I figured the audio might be. Were you able to play the Making of feature?
This wouldn't play on my 360 and I have the latest updates, other's have had the same issue.

Heart DOES play on the 360....you just have to use the remote and hit okay..it will jump right to the concert. The menu items are not playable however.

Heart: Alive in Seattle plays for me now. It crashed PDVD-HD Ultra in a heartbeat when trying to play it.

I moaned to CL and they let me down load a 'fixed' player today and now the concert plays great.

2 hours is all it took with CL online support, I was shocked.

(I just have the HD-DVD player add-on)

The Alice Cooper live show, video only, stuttered all the way through. The audio (DD) was excellent. (360 HD-DVD). Cleaning the disk did not help. It seemed to be worse during very busy scenes.

Perhaps it's the copy I received from Netflix, but Beerfest is not even registering on my 360 at all. I can't get the split menu to come up in the dashboard.

I don't understand this thread at all. I've watched dozens of movies on the 360, had not one problem. Hundreds of thousands of others have experienced similarly solid results from this drive. I read other boards and have never seen anyone ask whether "Does Title ____ Work on the 360 Drive?"

So, from the looks of it there aren't widespread issues with ANY movie on the 360 HD-DVD drive, but issues related to a few concerts and special interest titles -- a very, very small sampling of discs.

No offense to the OP but was the point of this thread really to pinpoint issues, or just to slog a unit that has basically worked perfectly for anyone who's had it (sound limitations of the player, which are an entire other subject, notwithstanding)?

I don't understand this thread at all. A good example is a couple posts above. The poster had problems with Beerfest and didn't know if it was a problem with the disc or the 360 addon. Someone replied that Beerfest works fine on the addon, so now the person who had a problem knows it was the disc, not the addon. Useful info. :)

So, from the looks of it there aren't widespread issues with ANY movie on the 360 HD-DVD drive, but issues related to a few concerts and special interest titles -- a very, very small sampling of discs. And since there are some titles that currently do not play on the 360, this list makes sense.

No offense to the OP but was the point of this thread really to pinpoint issues, or just to slog a unit that has basically worked perfectly for anyone who's had it (sound limitations of the player, which are an entire other subject, notwithstanding)?Academic question now, as the usefulness of this thread has proven out regardless of the OP's intent. ;)

I haven't had any issues with the add on except with the new NINE INCH NAILS Beside you in Time disc - If the audio stream is selected as True HD, it sounds destorted and messed up (I know the addon doesn't support true hd streams, but it should downgrade it better than this, like it does on say The Departed). First time I've had an issue.

Has a workaround been identified for getting the Earth Wind & Fire concert disc to play in the Xbox 360?
