I now have a RP-62 and a DMR-E50 on top of the TV. I'd like to get a DVD-Recorder that has a great playback similar to RP-62 and able to record.

Roger Lococco 02-22-07, 10:30 AM people always recommend a dedicated player for watching the dvds,to keep the hours off the recorder. sivartk 02-22-07, 12:17 PM people always recommend a dedicated player for watching the dvds,to keep the hours off the recorder. Exactly, the one that doesn't record is the best. Church AV Guy 02-22-07, 12:30 PM And usually much less expensive too. mikelets456 02-22-07, 04:41 PM Just looking to save some space. Thanks...I thought I'd check to see if there were any DVD recorders with DCDI playback or the similar like in my RP-62. bobbyslav 02-22-07, 10:29 PM I am in the same boat now, I really need a dvd recorder with good playback, because I watch a lot of comercial DVDs, but at the same time like to use the recorder's tuner to watch cable on my projector, and really don't want to run two separate 35' cables between the entertainment cetner and the projector. I just don't get it, we never had to buy dedicated VHS player and a separate recorder, why is it so hard to put a decent playback on a recorder? The best playback I've had so far was from a cheap RCA DRC8052N, no Faroudja unfortunately, but I my projector has it onboard. I didn't keep the RCA because of a mono tuner, and a very buggy operation. Now I am waiting on the new recorders with ATSC tuners. Can only hope that maybe some of them will have a decent playback quality too. mikelets456 02-23-07, 02:12 PM I am in the same boat now, I really need a dvd recorder with good playback, because I watch a lot of comercial DVDs, but at the same time like to use the recorder's tuner to watch cable on my projector, and really don't want to run two separate 35' cables between the entertainment cetner and the projector. Wonder if it recieve HD? mikelets456 02-23-07, 02:19 PM I guess I'll wait for the HD-DVD recorders.....Will it ever end? The number of inputs, HD and HD Tuner is enought to wait for!!! sivartk 02-23-07, 03:13 PM Which recorders will have Tuners built in? Wonder if it recieve HD? The recorders that come out around March will have ATSC tuners (OTA digital)...the 2 questions: 1) Will it have a QAM tuner for digital cable in the clear? 2) Will the output when watching live TV be in HD format (1080i/720p)? Example of DVD recorder with ATSC tuner (http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4156935) Now playback on these? Who knows, no one actually has one yet. moxie1617 02-23-07, 05:25 PM I found the Panasonic Press release and it sounds like its strictly ATSC/NTSC, no QAM tuner. It also states that it will upconvert SD sources to 1080P but nothing about how it will handle OTA HD sources. http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prModelDetail?storeId=11301&catalogId=13251&itemId=104566&modelNo=Content01062007085220398&surfModel=Content01062007085220398 |
