I have emailed netd@*%# several times about this issue with no response. I tried block buster online but they are the same way. Me too, maybe you should delete it from your queue, so I move up in line! :p Been waiting on Fearless for ever too :( The Thing is on it's way though HorrorScope 02-22-07, 12:42 PM Discover Atlas (Italy), Departed, HollywoodLand, The Prestige, Superman Returns have been at the top of my Que for what seems like forever. I like Netflix but they must have a very limited quantity of these titles. Departed and Prestige seem like forever? Aren't they recently released? But I hear ya, when using a rental service like them I put a lot of movies I want to see in que knowing that something will come that I'll watch, strategy seems to never fail me. I just administer patience. That's the tradeoff sometimes. $20 a month vs. buying at unknown $$$. mrigsby 02-22-07, 12:44 PM Here's a question, do you rent a lont of movies in a week? Netflix has a delivery set up that those who rent a lot of movies (whether they were first in line or not) get moved lower in the que. People have amade a huge brew ha ha over this but Netflix continues to do it. cdhender 02-22-07, 12:47 PM The key is to have a bunch of Hd-DVDs and stuff at the top of your queue. I was surprised that they sent me Babel yesterday. larry HorrorScope 02-22-07, 12:52 PM Here's a question, do you rent a lont of movies in a week? Netflix has a delivery set up that those who rent a lot of movies (whether they were first in line or not) get moved lower in the que. People have amade a huge brew ha ha over this but Netflix continues to do it. I thought that this is no longer the case. I'm not seeing any real correlation other then they simply don't have the movie in stock at the time of shipment to me which is a variable and very small window. The issue with having a bunch in que and always having all your movies out is that for a new movie a lot of people have that right at the top and they just hit the magic moment, of the new movie becoming available and them having an open slot to send out the next movie. Now if you don't have an open slot at that very moment and you won’t get the next movie back to them for two days, by that time it too late for the first batch making it to you and then your in a crap shoot thereafter as we can hold on to the movies forever and you just get the next movie in que available. That is why imo there can be long delays in getting a specific movie. Best bet it probably not carrying a que and making sure you have an open slot the day they receive the new movies. Here is a little trick, when there is something really hot you want to see wait for it to be available. Say you have 3 movies out at a time plan. Put the movie you really want #1 then upgrade to the 4 movie plan which instantly means you now pick a movie from the que, it will be thee movie you want. When it ships drop back down to a 3 movie plan. You'll be charged but you get the movie because it was a systematic move. It's available "now" and you have a "open slot" to put a movie in. People have amade a huge brew ha ha over this but Netflix continues to do it. netflix does not do that anymore, they got sued for it. To me, this means that demand for renting netflix hd-dvd's is much higher than netflix had originally anticipated. It clearly indicates that netflix needs to order more hd-dvd's, which is good for hd-dvd. I've had the same 2 hd-dvd's for like 2 weeks now. I feel bad about it, but I can't watch them until my 360 gets fixed and I'm not going to return them because it took me a month to finally get them. mrigsby 02-22-07, 01:27 PM I didn't know they got sued or stopped this practice. I haven't followed the story too closely karlw2000 02-22-07, 01:37 PM I keep those HD-DVD new releases at the top and make sure to hold my returns until Friday or Saturday so they ship out the next on Monday. I've been lucky to get 3 new HD-DVD's including last week's "The Departed" and this weeks "Babel". When I miss the new releases, forget it...it will take forever. I did finally just get "Hollywoodland" from BB this week and will watch it tonight. web 02-22-07, 01:38 PM My experience with Netflix is the opposite. I received "The Departed" last Tuesday from Netflix, which was the actual release date, I believe. And the same for HollywoodLand. With both HD DVD and Blu-ray, I have no complaints with Netflix deliveries and I have been renting HD DVDs from them since they began offering the format last year. web kevink109 02-22-07, 01:43 PM This must be location dependent- I received Fearless w/ only a few days wait, and received Breakfast Club and Black rain w/o issue- I never wait for any of my netflix movies- I purchased the Departed and don't own Bluray so can't comment on the prestige... pedrojunkie 02-22-07, 01:49 PM I thought they got sued but they still do it? I'm pretty sure they still throttle and favor the low rental demographics on new releases, I think they just had to put it in their terms of service and make it known that they do that. I could be wrong but after the lawsuit and the free month of retribution, I'm pretty sure I've been throttled a few times... I've never had a problem with Netflix and Hd DVDs a few I had to wait for but never more than one barrage of mailings... PooperScooper 02-22-07, 02:00 PM The haven't changed anything. I think the either stopped saying unlimited rentals or added some fine print. Nothing has changed in how they "throttle" users. larry JulesH 02-22-07, 02:03 PM The haven't changed anything. I thought they stopped, but they just changed the fine print? That's crap. "In determining priority for shipping and inventory allocation, we give priority to those members who receive the fewest DVDs through our service," Netflix's revised policy now reads. The statement specifically warns that heavy renters are more likely to encounter shipping delays and less likely to immediately be sent their top choices. Few customers have complained about this "fairness algorithm," according to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings. "We have unbelievably high customer satisfaction ratings," Hastings said during a recent interview. "Most of our customers feel like Netflix is an incredible value." The service's rapid growth supports his thesis. Netflix added nearly 1.6 million customers last year, giving it 4.2 million subscribers through December. During the final three months of 2005, just 4 percent of its customers canceled the service, the lowest rate in the company's six-year history. Doug Schiller 02-22-07, 02:19 PM B%@!Buster Online is similar. I have had Jet Li's Fearless in my queue since the beginning and it is always a very long wait. Either one guy is holding onto their only copy or they had defects and never replaced them. Combos are especially tough for some reason. I finally got "Accepted" this week and I had that in the queue since its release week. I'm not sure I even want to see it now. puzzle 02-22-07, 02:26 PM Netflix's HD DVD rental service has been great for Amazon's HD DVD sales. At least as far as I'm concerned. Great considering monday was a holiday (Mail). lilstinky 02-22-07, 04:32 PM Probably because of all the 360 add-ons that are selling. Xylon 02-22-07, 05:14 PM I have 5 HD DVDs at home . . . . . . . . for 2 weeks now. Just cant get around to watch them. thalazy 02-22-07, 06:33 PM I was surprised when I got Babel today. I have yet to watch it, must not be a popular HD DVD. I have several other HD DVD's on order and have been listed as Very Long wait for a few weeks now. I think Netflix needs to get more inventory in their HD Formats or they may start to lose customers. GATER 02-22-07, 08:46 PM I've had the World Trade Center HDDVD in my queue as "very long wait" since its release date. Its rediculous! I have never had to wait this long for any movie HDDVD or SDDVD. Anyone else waiting on this? Emannikcufesin 02-22-07, 08:56 PM That's a good problem, it means HD DVD is gaining in popularity in your area. I have been fortunate to encounter very few delay problems with HD DVD's in the Seattle area. golazo 02-24-07, 01:04 AM I got Babel On release day from Blockbuster Online. Great considering monday was a holiday (Mail). That's BS man! Babel isn't even listed in their HD-DVD collection pages, and I was only able to add the SD version, and later deleting it to see if there is an HD-DVD version. Are you a Blockbuster plant or something? GregD333 02-24-07, 02:29 AM Umm...I received "The Departed" today and I should be receiving "Babel" tomorrow. I added these to my Q a couple of weeks ago. darinp2 02-24-07, 02:41 AM That's BS man! Just search for "Babel", then go to "All Editions", and all 3 versions (HD DVD, Blu-ray, and DVD) will be there. They show the HD DVD version shipped to me and I'll have it tomorrow. --Darin JET99 02-24-07, 02:53 AM NET FLIX will no doubt fix the HD shortage problem and the reason is NET FLIX has a vested interest in keeping HI DEF on manufacturer produced hard copy discs as long as is possible - and avoiding the day when HD movie downloads onto tranportable Hi Def DVD discs - ie. where the customer can create their own HD movie discs from home and pay the studios and be done in such a way where Hollywood believes the pirating risk is low - because when that day arrives NET FLIX won't be needed for much longer HB GAMER 02-24-07, 11:37 AM It isn't other people's fault that you didn't find it. I'm not with them because of their throttling crap. Blockbuster probably does it too, but it's apparently not as pronounced so I don't notice it. William L Carman 02-24-07, 06:03 PM I just tried to add "The Prestige" to my Netflix account, and they show it as being available only in regular dvd & blue-ray. No HD DVD. golazo 02-24-07, 08:56 PM Thank You. At least someone else knows how to use the computer. golazo you need to chill  Alright man, sorry my bad. This "All Editions" tab must be new or something as I only switched over to BB Online in Jan'07, since I was a former Netflix sub. Netflix's UI was very easy to choose HD-DVD versions of movies, so when I started using BB Online, the only way I knew how to find HD-DVD movies was that Collections->HD-DVD navigation (it's not there but thats another issue). dmccombs 02-26-07, 12:06 AM Gator, I had this in my queue from when they first listed it, and finally got it the other day. I am trying to watch it now, but it keeps skipping and stopping. I have had to restart it several times, and skip parts of some chapters. Lately, I have gotten a lot more movies from Netflix that skip and stop. On this movie, you can see scratches all over the movie. Between the long wait times, and the fact that 1 in 4 movies skips/stops, I am about to drop Netflix. I also hate the with the HD-DVDs, the ADD button (supposed to mean that movie has been released), doesn't mean it is released. I dont know why they have Add and Save buttons anymore. There doesn't seem to be a difference. In short, you throw movies into the queue, the order doesn't matter because they hardly have any on hand, then you hope movie is actually playalbe all the way through. Netflix used to be a very good service, and I can accept the fact that there a limited number of HD-DVD movies. But Netflix is managing the ones they have very poorly. Their service sucks these days, and I am about to drop them. I pay to enjoy movies, not curse throug every 4th one. I pay to chose what DVD I want to watch on a given night. Netflix does not offer that. You may recieve a movie you put in your queue 5 months ago, even though I use their the ADD button (meaning in stock). OK, gotta go. The World Trade Center has stopped agin and needs to be restarted so I may watch another chapter. Regards, Darrell I've had the World Trade Center HDDVD in my queue as "very long wait" since its release date. Its rediculous! I have never had to wait this long for any movie HDDVD or SDDVD. Anyone else waiting on this? jagouar 02-26-07, 12:27 AM yeah im pretty sure they all do it in different ways.... ive had miami vice in my queue since it came out and just got it this week. the throttling issue could be the big thing that gets people to switch to download services (since they wont have a issue getting the content to everybody.... just the speed of their networks). Ive said it here before but if/when live marketplace gets a netflix/blockbuster type of monthly fee I will very seriously consider dropping blockbuster for them and had netflix in the past.... they all throttle even when i wasnt an abuser of the system (they need to get atleast 1 more major network) because then I could just rent the movies on a per movie basis until the rest of the studios get added. ChrisPC 02-26-07, 12:40 PM It is getting pretty bad. When HD DVD first came out, I was getting all the good titles fast. Now, they're sending me the crappy ones on the bottom of my queue. I just tried Xbox Live Marketplace and was very impressed. I have a fast connection so I can get movies pretty fast. speeeedy 02-26-07, 12:44 PM How do you abuse using netflix. It is a no limit subsriction. Besides, by the time I send a movie in and get one back it is usually almost a week. So if I was to get as many movies as possible that would still only be about 3 a week and that is about what we rent. I have man of the year, babel, the departed, flushed away, clerks 2, jet li' fearless, flicka, half nelson and hollywoodland that are all either very longe wait or longe wait. dange this sucks. But it's cheap! bdizzle 02-26-07, 02:54 PM you can blame me. ive had like 4 hd-dvd's in my posession for like 3 weeks now. haven't watched em yet! karlw2000 02-26-07, 04:38 PM I'm bucking the trend. For the 3rd straight week, I'm getting a new release. 2 weeks ago, I got "The Departed", last week I got "Bable", and just discovered I snagged "Bullit" today for delivery tomorrow. If I like "Bullit" I will buy it just like I bought "The Departed". Xylon 02-26-07, 04:41 PM My HD DVDs on their way back.
