Hi, suddenly the image gets all scrambled, rgb all over the place (very trippy visuals I guess you could say), and then I can't turn the projector off, other than cutting it's power.

What's wrong? After restarting it it works fine again. This happens from time to time.

grkn,
It probably got a glitch in it's processor memory. You can just hit the "reset" button on the back and it should clear up the problem also.

Reset? Do you mean the poweroff button? But wouldn't that potentially hurt the bulb as the fans gets shut off?

Not power off.. Check the manual and you should find a small inset button on the back of the projector that you access with a stylus or pen that will "reboot" the processor. See page 9 of your manual.
(Though you can turn the off switch off without hurting anything if you don't turn the unit back on until after it has completely cooled.)

Actually, just hitting the reset button didn't help, maybe you must hold it in? (didnt try)

Be sure you have actually pushed the button in. You have to get something that will get into the hole and find the button. You should feel it depress when you have it. YOu should not have to hold it in but you need to feel it actually go in.

I have tried and the button really got pressed, nothing happened. This didn't happen before, and now I get it approximately once in every movie. extremely annoying!

grkn - does this lockup occur on multiple sources and inputs? If not, what source and input give you the problem?

I will try vga in and see, so far I've only seen it with DVI -> HDMI from my computer. I do not get this with DVI to my lcd monitor.

Although trying a different HDMI source would validate that the Z3's HDMI input is working correctly, it sounds like the computer output may be the problem. You may want to check the HTPC forum to make sure that your video card's output is compatable with the Z3.

This happened to me once. I just powered down (the hard way) and everything has been fine fro 2 years. Must have been a glitch. I was fiddling with the iris settings and configuration at the time.
