My buddie bought Audio Quest Columbia RCA's they have a inline battery on them for some reason. Are they any better than regular cable? If so or not whay the battery? He thinks he is King S@i^ now that he has them. "the salesman told him to break in the cables they will sound better" He is using them for a 2 ch amp not sure brand. So snake oil or the real deal?

The whole dielectric biasing thing was debunked at Audioholics: http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/audioprinciples/interconnects/cabledistortiondielectricb.php where one will find other articles including a dialog that ensued between Bill Low and Audioholics. Yes, there's a patent on it, but then the USPO issues a lot of patents for silly stuff. I'm sure he hears wonderful things. I might too if I'd dropped $500 and couldn't return it.

No offense, but your friend is a sucker. The reason the salesman told him to "break them in" is probably so that he uses them past the return period before he realizes he got robbed.
