Hey guys,
I am at the final stages before I insulate and rock my room, but the projector decision is killing me.

I was going to go with the 1000u, but that offset kills it for me, only 8' ceilings,
so what projectors < $3000 have less then 20% offset or so.

Thanks!

Pretty much any LCD projector will work fine for you.

I have the Panasonic ax100. Other ones to consider would be the Epson 400 or 700 (810) or the Sanyo Z5. There may be others.

I don't know which DLPs would work so I'll let someone else answer that.

The Sharp DT500 has a really small offset for DLP.

Oh, im sorry, I should say I would prefer DLP if possible. I'll look at the sharp, any others?

Infocus IN-76 has the smallest offset I have seen (except for the few adjustable ones)

Cool let me go check that one out!

Any thoughts on the BenQ 7700 or the Optoma 7100 ?

On a side note, why does projector central not list offset !!!

I think the IN76, the Sharp DT500 and XV-Z3000 are very close in offset, the Sharps have a shorter throw though, so if it's a small room(PJ to screen), you'll get a bigger picture if thats desireable.
The IN76 is brighter though, according to PJC, by a fair amount.

I know you most likely are not looking for a budget projector or a non typical solution to this offset dilemma. But if others with very low ceilings such as you will find in basement theaters want the absolute most screen they can get without relying heavily on keystone adjustment need short throw and want DLP, consider the Sharp XR10X with its negative drop height.

My celing height is 6’4” and I have a 6’ high screen and zero keystone adjustment at a 14’ throw. Screen size is 72x96 for SD and 54x96 for HD

The centerline of my lens sits about 5” below the top of my image.

Cool thanks!

Yah, my room is 23' x 14' with 8' 1" ceilings.

Right now the projector can go anywhere it wants, I havent put in the drywall yet, so im open for anything really.

Well the two sharps are in your price range for sure the DT-500 at around 1500 and the XR10X at 750. Both will throw you a nice bright 110 inch picture and depending on seating distance SDE shouldn’t be a problem. of course the DT is 720 and the 10X will be 576 lines. If you do watch any amount of SDTV the 10X being XGA or 4:3 will give you 768 lines. Muzz has some great screen shots floating around on a couple threads and mine are linked in my signature below.
