Does anyone know of a means to increase the storage capacity of the Bell Xpressvu PVR?

I see now you can add an external hard drive to the "HD PVR Plus system". I have the older silver colored Dual tuner PVR (always had a usb port that they said had no purpose)..wonder if it's the same?

I also wonder if I DID get an external hard drive and used it for backing up high def shows....what format would they be..and could I then play them on my Xbox 360 or PS3 using a USB port?

I doubt anyone at Bell could answer this for me...

they're probably encrypted using the smartcard on the receiver, hence can only be decrypted and played back that way. I believe ExpressVu uses EchoStar/DISH network hardware...and DISH shows that Seagate and Western Digital both have "DISH Compatible" DVR external storage. Like the Seagate product, it's available on their website...but good luck getting it shipped to CA.
