My first projector (Panny AX-100) has arrived. I'm looking for any tips you have on setting this baby up. I purchased a chief universal mount to mount to a truss in the ceiling. It will be shooting at a 92" Dalite Cinema Vision High Contrast fixed screen. My questions are:

With a ceiling height of 7'11", what is the best height for the top of the screen knowing the projetor will be ceiling mounted?

I have the cables and outlet in ceiling about 16'6" back from the screen, what would be the ideal disstance away from screen should I put the projector?

Based you many of you, I purchased the Avia DVD to calibrate everything. Any tips or tricks on using this?

Anything else you care to share for tips regarding installation of my Panny?

Thanks a million!

The nice thing about the Panny is it has a huge throw range, so you have quite a few placement options. Go here www.projectorcentral.com to find out the distance. 16' 6" would be about perfect to mount the pj, right in the middle of the throw range.

With your screen size, the highest the centerline of the projector lens can be is 5.85 inches above the top of the screen. With the lens shift you have a lot of leeway.

Well, I'll give it a go on Sunday. Family gathering tomorrow but Sunday is WIDE open for HT "stuff". I hope I'm watching a DVD tomorrow night! Wish me luck that the panny is good out of the box! I'm a little nervous after everything I've been reading. Hopefully this a small % of those that have this projector.

I was a little nervous since this is my first projector. I have a friend that runs our studio at work so he came over to help me. He said this projector ended up being one of the easiest to set up.

I put the top of my viewing screen 8" from the ceiling. The front of the projector is 14' 8" back from the screen. With the adjustments on the projector, we were basically able to put the projector where ever we wanted. I also used a chief universal mount and it sits nice and tight to the ceiling.

So, using the wife factor, it is where it is and works wonderfully. I can't wait to finish the basement and the rest of the surround & sub so I can enjoy a movie!

Good luck to you and your set up. It is actually, quite easy.
