I want to buy a DVD player/recorder that has HDMI in/out so I can upconvert DVD movies I rent to 1080I. I now have a HI DEF cable box with TWC and use a HDMI cable between the Scientific America and the TV. I want to run the HDMI out of the TMC cable box into the DVD recorder and then a HDMI out of the DVD player into the TV. This way I can get great picture from TWC and movies from DVD. Is there a copy protection problem that will cause no picture or a warning on screen when I watch tv from cable. I have a Scientific America 83XX series cable DVR box. Please advise. I don't want to spend several hundred dollars if I cannot use. Thanks a lot.

AVS Forum sponsor Monoprice.com has very good prices for HDMI cables.

Thanks, but my question is the issue of HDCP or DMRC lockout or messages out of the cable box super imposed on the TV screen because of the DVD HDMI connectivity. I already have a few HDMI cables. BTW my Mitsubishi HDTV is 52" DLP 1080 and has HDCP incorporated.
