Games for Windows has Xbox Fans Drooling
When it comes to gaming, some people are simply die-hard console fans, but Microsoft's new Games for Windows on the Vista platform is making some of the hardieast consolers think about a switch.
In fact, Games for Windows will be tightly integrated with Xbox, so you'll be able to play games like Halo 2 and ShadowRun on Xbox LIVE against not only other Vista machines but Xbox consoles as well.
Correction: An alert AVS user informs us that Halo 2 in fact will not have this capability (http://www.bungie.net/games/halo2vista/content.aspx?link=Halo2VistaFAQ); however, ShadowRun and presumably others will. Thank you for catching this.
Microsoft has enabled all of the Xbox 360 controllers, racing wheels, etc. to be used for Games for Windows in Vista. This includes all the wireless controllers as well.
To optimize a setup, throw a Gefen HD Mate Scaler into the mix. Then the Xbox 360 and a PS3 can be used on the same monitor that already exists in the home office. Your boss will love that.
