OK, I'm a noob wading into audio and video streaming with an Infrant NV+ and a MG-35 for SD viewing in the bedroom. I'm anxious for an HD and high-quality audio solution for the family room and have become enamored with the Helios X5000. Here's what I'm looking for...in my just-getting-used-to-how-it-works phase right now, I'm ripping to .vob with decent results through the MG-35, so continuing that way and playing the .vob's through the X5000 would be a painless way to go.
As for the audio side, I need something that sounds better than average or "computer-sounding", although I will likely go through an external DAC eventually anyway. The only problem I see with the X5000 is that again, in my noob approach, I have gone with what I know and ripped the CDs I have done so far in Apple Lossless and it doesn't look like the X5000 handles that format. In taking the next step, should I just start ripping in FLAC and go with the X5000?
Pro, Cons, thoughts on this unit?
Thanks,
CD
